turn off NBT
Hi,
I tried to turn off Netbios over TCP/IP by adding this to
[global] session in smb.conf
disable netbios = yes
After restarting samba smbd is still listing on TCP 139.
Is this normal? Or did I missed anything?
Thanks.
Regards,
Dil Lee

New Windows IAX Client
Announcing a new Windows-based IAX/IAX2 client. Please download it and
give it a try. Let me know about any bugs, and any missing features. I
have yet to come up with a catchy name for it, so at this point it calls
itself IAX Phone. (Suggestions? Non-derogatory suggestions,
preferably).

Wine and Mac Os X
Hi,
I would like to know which Windows-Software you managed to use with Darwine on your Mac. I don't have to and don't want to run many programs this way but for example, Trix did not work at all.
Thanks!

logging LMTP activity
Hello,
I've been trying to set up Postfix + Dovecot LMTP setup. Basic idea
taken from https://wiki2.dovecot.org/HowTo/PostfixDovecotLMTP, but since
Postfix is on different host inet listener is used instead of unix socket.
Message delivery works. Messages are delivered to correct mailboxes, if
they exist.
But the problem is with logging on Dovecot side; i can not get any lmtp

Rounding multinomial proportions
I present you with a function that solves a problem that has bugged me for
many years. I think the problem may be general enough to at least consider
adding this function, or a revamped version of it, to the 'stats' package,
with the other multinomial functions reside.
I'm using R to export data to text files, which are input data for an
external model written in C++. Parts of the

AstPligg
Hello list,
AstPligg is a new Digg-like website devoted to * and VoIP news.
At the moment, it's in beta stage and very basic - no fancy custom
templates. It allows posting new stories, comments on stories, RSS feeds
and tags. Still, it can be very useful, as the number of * sites and blogs
grows every day, and keeping track of what is hot in the * world is
increasingly difficult. Yes,

Nice to be called "Pure" :-) especially with capital letter.
MinGW binaries for llvm-gcc don't have Fortran

Rack, Camping 2.0++

I''ve just finished rewriting Camping to use Rack in the "core". I got rid of
(a little less) than 1kB in camping.rb and removed lots of un-necessary files
(lib/server/*.rb, fastcgi.rb & mongrel.rb).
bin/camping does now only provide WEBrick, Mongrel and console-support and
should only be used in development. It uses Rack::ShowExceptions to catch

currency conversion webservice in a rails app?
Hi,
I''m interested in using a currency conversion web service in my rails
app. Does anyone have a free service that they use and like? I found
this one
http://www.webservicex.net/WS/WSDetails.aspx?CATID=2&WSID=10
I''ve tried to make a simple, plain Ruby script to connect to this and
get a conversion rate without success.
How do I integrate a webservice into my rails app? I

Fwd: Re: Clarification on pshycho-acoustic in Vorbis (your non-MP3 guide)
After reading http://mp3.radified.com/mp3.htm I sent Rad an explanation of
some things as I understand them. He liked it and posted it on his site
(still unlinked, use the URL below). Can somebody with better
understanding of psycho-acoustic terms and the vorbis model check it and
comment on it? In particular I didn't know how vorbis handles
quantization noise. If you reply with

Problems making use of 2K PDC
I'm having problems with samba using the 2K PDC.
I've gotten it to successfully join the 2K PDC via smbpasswd. Winbindd
is running and I can ping it. I've tried googling, but was unsuccessful
at finding something useful. The Windows 2K event viewer shows:

Mocking, changing method interfaces and integration tests
Suppose we have a method ''foo'' which internally uses another method
''bar''.
Being good BDDers we mock out the ''bar'' method. After all, we only
want to spec the ''foo'' method - actually running the ''bar'' method
means slower, less maintainable and brittler specs. That''s why we <3
