Vonage catastrophic failure...
...now, we don't wish them ill, but Vonage seems to have been out of
commission for quite a little while. Website is excruciatingly slow,
log-in fails, hard-line and soft-line are out (alert-tone or "subscriber
not in service") -- even "Network failover" is failing. Outgoing calls
return fast-busy. 866-support number is busy.
Let's see how they deal with that in

Changing `security@freebsd.org' alias
...purpose.
And sometimes one just makes a typo. It has not been
too uncommon for people to forget the `-officer' part of
`security-officer@freebsd.org'. (Yours truly has been guilty of
this.)
Mistaken early disclosure of a vulnerability can have consequences
from the merely embarrasing to catastrophic. Therefore, I am
proposing that `security@freebsd.org' be re-routed to the Security
Officer.
I imagine this will have some significant impact: there must be
many references to security@freebsd.org as a public list out there.
So, I thought I'd air the issue here before sending any reques...

I''ve a second NFS client running FreeBSD 9.1-Stable, and on this second

I''ve try for this second client to change on the ZFS-NFS server the

How much disk can fail after a catastrophic failure occur?
If it's replica 2, you can loose up to 1 replica per distribution group. For example, if you have a volume TEST with such setup:
server1:/brick1
server2:/brick1
server1:/brick2
server2:/brick2
You can loose any brick of the replica "/brick1" and any brick in the replica "/brick2". So if you loose server1:/brick1 and server2:/brick2 -> no data loss will be experienced.

How much disk can fail after a catastrophic failure occur?
Ok! I got it about how many disks I can lose and so on.
But regard the arbiter isse, I always set this parameters in the gluster
volume, in order to avoid split-brain and I might add that work pretty well
to me.
I already have a Proxmox VE cluster with 2 nodes and about 50 vms, running
different Linux distro - and Windows as well - with Cpanel and other stuff,
in production.
Anyway here the

LANG=en_US, Xlib: connnection errors
This is odd but I'm trying to get the most elementary sides of WINE down. I
have gotten it to attempt to run write.exe out of my windows directory. but
upon doing so it comes up with the LANG errors which I don't think is
catastrophic. (I might be wrong) and then it comes up with these errors:
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT_MAGIC_COOKIE-1 key
wine: Can't open display: :0
the latter three errors I presume is what is keeping me from running even
the most simple programs. I desperate...

Would doing a `doveadm mount remove /mnt/ssd` fix my issue, or cause some
type of catastrophe?

running multiple mongrels from same application root - is it safe?
Hi All
I was wondering if I run multiple mongrels from same application root (one
physical path) on the same machine is it safe as far as logging is
concerned.
I mean won''t there be race conditions or file locks and out of sequence
logging statements?
TIA

Bandwidth Limits
Has anyone noticed that the --bwlimit doesn't really work?
I have MRTG stats happening, and on a 128Kbps circuit, an rsync
with the following syntax takes up the whole line.
$ rsync -avz -e ssh localfiles.tar.gz user@remote:/path/to/file/arch
Any ideas? It's on an OpenBSD box going to a FreeBSD box. Both are
2.4.6.

If you are using AD for authentication, you can ignore local Unix
accounts, all your users should be in AD apart from at least one local
AD user (which can't be in AD) just in case something catastrophic happens.
Just use AD users and extend them to be Unix users and set up Linux to
use them.

Convert date to decimal days
...double(date) gives me the number of
seconds since the epoch which reproduces the correct date when fed to date
-u -r on the command line.
However, I can't seem to find a clean way of converting the date to decimal
days since the epoch. Using
as.double(date)/86400
Gives:
14071.12
Which is a catastrophic loss of significance, the number should be 14071.125
I tried playing around with the format command to see if I could get R to
format the date differently, but no luck.
Any suggestions?

config.log told me to report these (PR#12035)
Hello r-bugs,
I am running openSuse 11.0, with my new Intel 8500 (Penryn) C2D, and I want to use icc and ifort.
I was able to get a working Goto BLAS, following Dr. Goto's instructions.
That seems to work OK with gcc and gfortran.
I get about 10% faster computations by using -O3 rather than -O2.
I get faster results with Goto BLAS rather than the R BLAS.
Now I want to make icc and ifort

Stopword addition and stemming
...ely common (almost every document
will have something.co.us in it) terms "co" and "us", and the
not-so-common "bob". Searching only for "bob" is quick.
Would it make sense to add "co" and "us" to the stopword list to
prevent that kind of catastrophic slowdown in search time? Since the
dataset is obviously about ".co.us" I feel it's kind of redundant to
be searching for something you know is there...
Thanks

another yum question
Hello centos community,
I have a personal repository with self-made RPMs, and i need to include
this repository to yum.conf. But i've noticed that yum configuration is
overwritten when yum is updated. I can't update yum.conf manually on
my servers each time yum is updated ...
Is anyone have an idea ?
Thank you.
