The classes are called "land" and "water" and each category is labeled "cat1" to "cat6". I am using the command (function) table to tabulate each class for each category, but since i split the data in 2 parts, one part has only some of the 6 categories, and the other some other of the 6 categories (and not necessarily exclusive).
So let's built some results after i used the...

OT: Gigabit Rated Eth Cables - Cat 6 v. Gigatrue
...ext few days, i'm wondering this:
Is it over-engineering to seek out 550mhz rated cables
over the typical Cat 6 250mhz rated cables?
I've been advised (if you can a salesperson's words
advice, heh.) that 250mhz is enough to handle traffic
up to 10GB's.
Should I just be happy with Cat6 for my GB switches or
is is worth getting more into the details and seeking
550mhz-rated cable?
Just curious what your experience is in migrating away
from the typical 10/100 cables of yore to the spiffier
world of gb rated traffic.

to the router fails. I then deactivate the net interface on the
destination box and then activate it. Ping is then successful,
and the transfer is completed. The transferred file is correct,

All connections are via cat6 wire.
So what do you think? Should I try changing the net card?
Any tests to run? Any other suggestions?
Thanks for your help.

tinc 1.0.26 on Ubuntu 15.10 x64 sometimes crashes on startup
Hello,
on an x64 ubuntu 15.10 desktop tinc 1.0.26 sometimes crashes on startup
of the machine. eth0 (via good old cat6 cable, no wireless) is
configured to use dhcp. The crash does not happen often, I have seen it
in total maybe 2 or 3 times since installing 15.10 while it was still in
alpha ( July 2015 ) until today. The desktop is not shut down very
often, maybe once a week or every two weeks or even in longer in...

OT: VoIP over bonded link
I have to provision several dozen * users to a seperate building on our
campus in the same subnet. Ordinarily, I'd just run a gigabit cat6 cable to
another switch if it doesn't violate the 100 metre rule, but this building
is several hundred metres away from my backbone. My only option for cabling
to the remote building is copper. My plan is to provision them with a Linux
bridge with 4 NIC's: 1 gigabit to the backbone, and thr...

auth: Error: auth worker: Aborted request: Lookup timed out
Thanks for your tip regarding the busy network.
I am using a one year old Cisco Catalyst 2960S (WS-C2960S-48TD-L) with cat6e cables and my network should not be overloaded as far as I know. My mailbox and mail proxy servers are on two different virtual machines on two different servers. It could be possible that it is something with the virtualization but my other VMs do not have any connection time outs or anything. I...

Not a User Yet - but have some questions
I've been tasked with fitting out an appartment building with a phone system.
The entire appartment is getting broadband, with Cat6 Cables into each
appartment and fibre down the trunk. I was hoping to have PSTN in the
basement connecting to the IP system.
Today I found out however that one of the services will be paid TV - and it
will need a PSTN backchannel - ie a modem. The set top devices don't support
IP, they hav...

behavior even if I take the switch out of the system and connect the Windows XP and
Linux machines directly to each other (crossover cable not required for

are CAT6).
On the Linux side, I am using Samba 3.0.0 on Mandrake Linux 9.2 with all of
Mandrake's current updates -- kernel = 2.4.22-21enterprisemdk. The Linux

I am wondering if any of the Samba socket options settings li...

C5 64-bit on Dell not seeing 1 GB link
I've got a Dell Precision Workstation 490 with 64-bit Centos 5, fully
updated, with an on-board Broadcom 57xx gigabit Ethernet controller,
updated BIOS, 1 GB switch, and /var/log/messages and dmesg both claim the
link is 100 Mb, not 1 GB.
I tried setting eth0 to mtu 9000 but got an error in going so.
What do I need to do to have the card see 1 gb?
Thanks.

preplanning for a new home installation
In the next few months I'll be moving and will have a room specifically for
my office. As part of this move, I'll be putting in cat5e or cat6 throughout

I'll want to replace my Talkworks/WinfaxPro based voicemail system with an
Asterisk system, so what do I need to do cabling wise to make best use of
Asterisk?
I'll have at 2 phone lines coming into, one personal and one business, and...

All echo so far is on the local side (Employees hears own voice, but
