carpet plots
Hi all,
I wonder why there is so little software for carpet plots (german:
Rasterdiagramm) (Three dimensional plot (x, y, z), the 3rd dimension
(z) symbolized by colourgradients). Besides from one or the other non
free software I only found an OpenOffice macro, a combination of
Gnuplot and Excel (an Excel macro calling gnuplot)

Carpet Cleaning
Do you have a carpet cleaning service that you recommend? I'd like to get
the carpets done before we move our furniture in.

OT: high static in server room
Hi guys,
Sorry for the OT.
For the last couple of weeks I notice that the static in my server
room is worrisomely noticeable.
I cannot see what may be causing it....
Care to share some of your experience what may be the cause and the remedy?
Thank you.

...onic main
# deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/marutter/c2d4u3.5/ubuntu bionic main
because I thought it was easier to handle the rest via install.packages()
I was wrong. After reinstalling all extra packages via apt and
"c2d4u3.5", all my problems have vanished (or been swept under the
carpet;), no segfaults. Many thanks!

How to use dovecot only as POP3 server / prevent it from creating .imap directories?
...in-memory indices, but that is a solution to the wrong
problem.
By specifically stating in mail_location that ~user holds mailboxes,
you are telling Dovecot an untruth. It's better to tell Dovecot user
mailboxes (other than INBOX) don't exist, rather than to push all the
indices under the carpet.

NACK to this patch, as it just sweeps the issue under the carpet.
Basically, this is triggered by the following:
$ virt-builder fedora-22 --install <whatever>
gnupg2 (used to import keys the first time when installing packages
from a repository) requires the use of an agent, thus spawning
gnupg-agent which holds /sysroot/dev, which cannot be unmounted....

This issue caught my interest because I often have to deal with conflicts
encountered by people using multiple "big" packages that rely on upstream
libraries such as libcurl, gdal, hdfN, netcdf, etc. with R and other

[Bug 1672] add local DNSSEC validation
https://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1672
--- Comment #8 from pva <peter.volkov at gmail.com> ---
What is the status of this patch? It looks like many people don't
realize that without a secure local resolver, SSHFP just hides security
under the carpet: instead of a clear one-time 'yes' it makes this 'yes'
unattended, yet it's still possible for mitm on local networks, for
example, by redirecting DNS and ssh traffic to attackers computer.

Cisco 7960 mic generating noise on other end
Hi,
I'm having a problem with one of our 7960. They all run latest 7.4
SIP firmware.
The problem appears on the other end. The other end constantly hears
a 'crackling' noise. I have tested using phone set, headset and
speaker and the noise appears on all cases. I have other 7960 setup
exactly same way (using same asterisk, firmware, etc) so it looks like
a hardware issue.

programming tips for a newbie

Seriously, how often do you say to yourself, "I think I''ll dive into
this messy code today and try to make it nice and pretty without
adding any functionality?" Nobody is going to pay you for that. In
fact, I got called on the carpet for cleaning code during a major
update to a piece of software at a previous job -- "What are you doing
spending time modifying code that already works? Just add your new
features and be done." Never mind that I couldn''t understand the code,
or that clean code is stable, maintain...

Domain rename
Hello everybody!
I know this has been asked multiple times but I haven't found an answer yet so here I go again. I manage a domain, not too large but large enough to make it a complex task to recreate an entire domain and rejoin every computer, and the domain was created long ago without an ad subdomain so, is there any way to recreate an entire domain renaming the domain part of everything

Removal of CodeBreakers package
I installed Codebreakers Redhat pakage to my eDesktop 2.4. I downloaded
necessary files for depedency problems. I had tried Caldera's package
without success. Being a newbie I decided to try CodeBreakers. When
running winecheck it came up worse than the previous package. I tried to
uninstall package and my system did not see it as installed. I deleted
Wine.d from my /opt directory

RFC: Add "operand bundles" to calls and invokes
Just wanted to confirm that I too like where this is going. =] I think
Philip and others have really handled the bulk of the review, and I'm very
comfortable with them finishing the patch review.
One issue where I wanted to chime in, hopefully just to add some clarity,
is the "readonly" vs operand bundle set of (interrelated) issues.
First, as I think Philip already said, I think
