C caron character in R
Hi! In R 1.6.1. for Windows using RGui interface I try to use characters of Slovenian alphabet. Slovenia is a small Slavic country south of Austria with 3 characters which are not found in English alphabet, namely C, S and Z- all with caron. As S and Z are presented OK in both Console and Graphics window, this is not the case with C caron, which is shown as E acute- for an example please see:

support for caron (hacek) symbol
I am creating a Slovak translation of an interactive website ( http://mazamascience.com/OilExport/index_sk.html ) and am running into problems with R's lack of support for the caron found in the following letters: Č/č, Š/š and Ž/ž. I am using R 2.6.1 running on a recent version of CentOS. Any information about whether these characters are supported or any possible workarounds would be

/etc/security/limits.conf : rss
Hello, I run CentOS 5.6 on a Dell PowerEdge R815 with 256 GB of RAM. We use Sun Grid Engine to schedule jobs on this node. I want to limit the memory usage about 150 GB per process. So i use the /etc/security/limits.conf configuration file. I test this configuration with some tools with a lower GB limit (about 2 or 4 GB), and it works ! But, at least one process (oases - a bioinformatics

codepage/UnicodeData: tcase() data
Three questions: - Where did the file come from? - Does tcase() stand for toggle case (or otherwise effectively the same thing)? - Should uppercase characters like, the latin capital A, have tcase() data in addition to the lcase() data? -Gene "No one ever says, 'I can't read that ASCII E-mail you sent me.'"

tune2fs -l stale info
Hello, I just noticed that 'tune2fs -l' did not returned a "lively" updated information regarding the free inodes count (looks like it's always correct after unmounting). It became suprising after an online resizing operation, where the total inode count was immediatly updated (grown in my case) but the free inode count was the same: one could deduce that suddenly a lot of

ext4 and extremely slow filesystem traversal
Hello list, I have troubles with the daily backup of a modest filesystem which tends to take more that 10 hours. I have ext4 all over the place on ~200 servers and never ran into such a problem. The filesystem capacity is 300 GB (19,6M inodes) with 196 GB (9,3M inodes) used. It's mounted 'defaults, noatime'. It sits on a hardware RAID array thru plain LVM slices. The RAID array is

RedCloth and lang specific hooks
...textilize() which is a great way of letting end users edit contents. But the code in RedCloth is quite compact, and doesn''t allow for easily adding correct typographic behaviour depending on the lang of the text. For instance, correct quoting uses round double quotes in english and double carons ? ? in french; the spaces before punctuation can be corrected too. I''d like to know if there is an effort somewhere to clean up a bit the RedCloth code, and add an api to hook some behaviours from ruby code. Another very similar point would be the ability to add some custom tags in textit...

Samba 2.0.6 on SCO Unix 5.0.5
We seem to be experiencing some problems with Samba 2.0.6 on SCO Unix Openserver 5.0.5. I'm wondering if anybody else is using this version of Samba on SCO. I used an older version 3 years ago and rarely had a problem. I just installed this version and am experiencing an annoying problem: We use windows 95, 98 and NT4.0 (SP3/SP6) workstations. All passwords are set to clear text. The samba

R 3.5.3 and 3.6.0 alpha Windows bug: UTF-8 characters in code are simplified to wrong ones
Hello, There is a long-lasting problem with processing UTF-8 source code in R on Windows OS. As Windows do not have "UTF-8" locale and R passes source code through OS before executing it, some characters are "simplified" by the OS before processing, leading to undesirable changes. Minimalistic example: Let's type "?" (LATIN SMALL LETTER R WITH CARON) in RGui

Poor man's High Availability solution
Hi, I'm wondering what the best option to obtain a high availability asterisk server is. I currently use a TE410P (4 x E1) card. I'm thinking of 2 different solutions: - 2 servers configured with Heartbeat + DRBD (drbd mainly for voicemail....) and the E1 span plugged to the 2 servers (with a TE410P in each server). - 2 servers configures with Heartbeat + DRBD with the E1 span hooked
