Looking into a solution for Caldav (and possibly carddav) support
We have an existing Dovecot/Postfix/Roundcube email solution, which I was hoping to add Caldav (and carddav?) support to, with the goal of 3rd party email clients being able to keep contacts and calendars in sync (as well as having the same information in roundcube) In doing research, I came across traces of it being considered for Dovecot at one time (https://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2015-Septe...

Looking into a solution for Caldav (and possibly carddav) support
Hello, The metadata support in dovecot is now quite stable ( at least i didn't encountered problems on my servers ) But the metadata is only about marking the folders ( you can mark a folder as "calendar" or "contact"). caldav/carddav are based on webdav protocol, so normally you need an web server to publish them. In kolab there is iRony as web application. I can confirm you can use dovecot ( instead of cyrus) but is not trivial and I didn't know much about the compatibility for shared calendars. The requests I had are m...

Cyrus IMAPd provides exactly that, easily ;-) https://www.cyrusimap.org/imap/download/installation/manage-dav.html Alexander

Dovecot CalDAV server
I've been once in a while over the years thinking about implementing CalDAV (and CardDAV) to Dovecot. It might be time to start that soon. Does anyone have any suggestions? So far my main goals would be: - scalable, of course - configurable storage (object storage, regular fs, maybe some key-value dbs, maybe storing as emails) - efficient indexes (potentially using key-value dbs? o...

Looking into a solution for Caldav (and possibly carddav) support
Cyrus may offer the best implementation of cards and calendars ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_CalDAV_and_CardDAV_implementations ) but would you trade its imap for dovecots own? I am starving for an open-source card and calendar solution that is sound and secure, so cyrus is a good candidate, but I need it to go along with the existing structure, i do not want to start fresh with a new imap server. Calendar and address book with Dovecot
Hi all I recently install Postfix and Dovecot, and so far so good. My assumption was that calendar and address book (similar to Gmail calendar or address book) are part of Dovecot. However I do not see anything concerning them in any of the docs I have read so far. What other software (ideally open source, free) do I need in other to have Calendar and address book so my users can manage their

Required SSL with exceptions
...t;< > > > > Best Regards > MfG Robert Schetterer > Essentially we would like to host IMAP with SSL enforced for any connections coming from anywhere except the subnet where our other mail servers reside. The idea is to not install a local instance of dovecot on the webmail/carddav/caldav servers to reduce the number of instances that need to be managed. Is it possible to have two imap listeners, where ssl is enforced on one port, and not on another?

OT - How to query vcard-like data for CTI app
...stored in Email's address books. It is very common to deal with LDAP or SQL databases, from a program. I would be very curious for learning purpose, to write a (Java, PHP, or other) program able to query a vCards-like data source to find caller's name, from caller id. I looked at http://carddav.calconnect.org/implementations.html. What would you suggest to use as : - query language and library - vCards server Regards -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Ms Exchange vs dovecot
I have recently been working/testing with exchange 2016 and started thinking if I should even migrate to this platform. I assume more people here have experience with exchange and this idea. I was wondering if this is possible with a dovecot setup 1. public folder can be implemented with a public mailbox? 2. authorize users via groups access to mailboxes/folders of the public

...kal - and dropped Exchange completely. This worked flawless, so *I* don't miss Exchange at all. But: You can't compare dovecot with Exchange, because dovecot is a mail server, Exchange is a groupware server. This is why I added a baikal server to my infrastructure. Baikal is a Cal- and CardDAV server, that can replace the calendar und contact parts of Exchange. Nevertheless you loose many features of an Exchange server after migrating to such a setup, so if your users got used to these feature, it wouldn't be possible to drop Exchange. It is only feasable for small environments w...
