Quicktime 2 Theora Transcoder's Nano-Howto
After a bunch of cumbersome testing I was able to transcode a Quicktime
MOV file to OGG with theora and Vorbis. The method's a bit fumbly, but
it works... It is automatable except for the initial audio decoding.
Software used: Xine, oggenc, ffmpeg, ffmpeg2theora, oggzmerge
Step 1: Get the video out of Quicktime
ffmpeg -i infile.mov -b 5000 -f mpeg2video outfile.mpg
Step 2: Get the video

Enable Plugin from DBus
Hi,
how can I enable a plugin from the command line?
I know how to *activate* it from dbus, i.e. do the equivalent of
pressing "Ctrl-F9" or whatever the hotkey is.
But I don't know how to *enable* it, i.e. do the equivalent of clicking
the "enabled" checkbox in compizconfig settings manager.
Thanks!

Jumpy Video
Hi!
I tried two theora experiments lately... One encoding a Quicktime MOV
file using ffmpeg2theora and one using Thoggen.
Both times I had a very jumpy result... The thoggen-encoded DVD would
'jump' every half second or so, as if there was a slight, perhaps 20ms
pause. Audio would remain synced though.
The quicktime file would jump even more, being reduced to looking like a
crisp 2fps
