For some reason I'm no longer seeing copies of my own messages. I've checked http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos and the preferences setting is still fine. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks Anne

The only obstacle now to running this box as the mail server is that I do read and send mail on it occasionally, while working on something. I need gpg-agent, but can't find how to get it. Is it merged into another package, or do I simply have to look at other repositories? Anne

This (CentOS5.1) box is my new imap server. Using system-config-security-level I opened port 143 tcp, and mail is readable throughout the LAN. I want a Roaming account on my laptop so that I can read mail while away from home. I appear to have lost the whole of my home directory on my centos server (which includes all my mail saved from the last 7 years). Although I have recent backups of most data I would like to copy important files from /etc, and, if possible, /var/logs so that I can try to find out what went wrong. When I installed CentOS it was with an old monitor, and it turned out that I could not get system-config-display to set it up correctly. I bought a new monitor and now all is well, except... Every day I see this in chkrootkit's log - Checking `crontab'... Warning: crontab for nobody found, possible Lupper.Worm... not infected I know I met this once before, but I can't remember whether there is any cure for it. Hi All, I have a backup site and I would like to rsync from production to backup site. However, I would like to have all backups be compressed so I can save space. Can anyone recommend a good way to do this? I am currently using tar and bzip2 to do this. TIA

I was having a problem in a shell script that turned out to be cp being aliased to 'cp -i'. Not a showstopper, once you realise it, but it did beg the question as to where this file is. I was told to look in /etc/profile.d, but that doesn't seem to be the case on my CentOS box. I can list aliases, so I know the file exists, but where? Anne -------------- next part
