Hi! If a soundcard lacks a Linux driver (like Yamaha's SW1000XG) is there any chance WINE could use the Windows' driver and make a sequencer like Cakewalk Pro Audio work with it? Or is that hoping too much? Regards, Mattias

So ... is their's really better than Wine on Debian Sid or Experimental? I have no need for MS-office. OO is more than good enought. I just want to run some Windows-based programs on Linux. So could someone simply explain me step-by-step what to do? I want to run Cubase or at least Cakewalk Sonar with Addictive Drums (and EzDrummer). Plus Guitar Pro 5 would be good too. I have recently tried GOS and Slax. GOS managed to launch Foobar. Cubase SX 2 and SX3 setup managed to be launched, but SX3 did not install (some problems during driver installation maybe) and SX2 just does not start....

Installing alsa and jack libraries places devices for these in the winecfg menus. If I choose jack, what I would expect is that the wine instance would init jack clients for audio in and out and midi in and out (not really jack but jack can connect these as well).
