apt-cacher for CentOS
Hi All,
Is there something similar to apt-cacher available for CentOS? I would
like to ensure that an application is only downloaded once to the
network and not hundreds of times.
If there isn't an equivalent, would someone please point me in the
direction of how I might accomplish this with CentOS?

Something like apt-cacher for CentOS/RHEL?
Hi,
For some time I've fiddled with Debian and Ubuntu LTS. There's one
really nice feature for local networks: apt-cacher, a package proxy for
APT.
My company is in the remote South French countryside, and more often
than not, schools and public libraries only have some very limited
Internet access with relatively low bandwidth, which can make the
updating process very tedious. A package cache comes in very handy...

Puppet hangs
Hello,
we have one puppet server managing approx servers, all FreeBSD.
The problem is that the puppet clients all hangs, one by one,
eventually. They will run for anything between an hour up to a week.
But eventually the all hang.
We really like puppet and want to keep using it. But the way it is now
is completely unusable. We''ve tried many versions, from 24.x, and now
2.6.1rc1. But

something like apt-cacher for yum
Hello!
I need to download updates and install it on several servers.
I don't want to mirror all packages just because traffic is expensive here.
We use apt-cacher as specialized proxy for our ubuntu desktops, so we
download packages only once.
Is there similar tool for yum?

Squid +Yum = apt-cacher?
Hi all,
I was wondering if would be possible to configure squid to co ope with yum so
it recognize mirrors and it can cache rpm packages based on package name and
maybe some other parameter to be sure that is the right package.
Any ideas?
Cheers,

No Migration Files are created
...Name field1:type" I don''t get the usual
"create db/migrate...." status lines in the console, but instead tons of
location links

On the Top it says "Block in cunstantize: uninitialized constant cacher

And no migrationfiles are created in the db folder. I tested the "rails
g controller"-command which works fine. Also creating new models
/migrations in other projects do work. But creating migrations in this
specific "sample_app" is no longer possible and I just don...

pre-built images
Tru has already been building vmware images (
http://people.centos.org/tru/vmware/ ) for various roles.
I was wondering if there was any interest in prebuilt Xen images as well
? And if so, what would be the roles people would want images done for,
and what might be suiteable package sets to include for those roles.

proper way to mirror apt.puppetlabs.com?
I am wanting to set up a local mirror of apt.puppetlabs.com, and am a
bit confused by the layout as well as the announcement that was made
in this thread:
http://groups.google.com/group/puppet-users/browse_thread/thread/0786824ea9531fe3/f53c9006843ab8dc
I''m not sure exactly what I should be pulling, as rsync://apt.puppetlabs.com/packages/apt
gets everything, but it seems like a bit of a

Issue with Asterisk 13, multiple CDR per queue and arbitrary upper limit
...ultaneous ring, 20
phones, all unreachable, 1 second between attempts. After 250 (5000
divided by 20) seconds of waiting asterisk partially breaks down.
This seems to be because while multiple CDR`s are written per queue call,
it`s only done at the end of the call, so CDRs accumulate in
memory/cacher/whatever and break some limit.
So, my question is: is there any way to force the CDR`s to be written as
the queue app is working it`s magic, instead of at the very end of the
call? Or anyway to work around this limit? Or any fix for this?

Action caching with params
...;baz=red
However, the cached fragment would always be named
foo.com:3000/controller/action.cache, no matter what parameters where
passed in, which would result in incorrect data being rendered on a
cached page.
I eventually tracked the culprit to ActionController::Base#url_for,
which the fragment cacher calls well reading and writing the fragment.
In my controller, I added this:
def url_for(options = nil, *parameters_for_method_reference)
super( options ? options : params, parameters_for_method_reference)
end
which sends the params hash as options, if no options are specified
(as is the case...

Are cache sweepers used?
After drawing many virtual blank stares in the IRC channel and finding
zero results on the wiki for ''sweeper'' I''m left to wonder whether
these are actually officially supported, or are on their way toward
being deprecated. Is there a better way of expiring caches on model
saves and deletions?
Sincerely,

trouble with retrieving information from current source
I''m rather new to puppet and I''ve been trying to get a module to work
on the client servers. Right now I''m trying to get
http://forge.puppetlabs.com/ghoneycutt/pam to run. When I try to run
it I get these two errors:
