Public namespaces with global ACLs 1.2+
...global ACL files for "Public" nor "Newsletters" nested in the
global path seem to work. For now only the .DEFAULT ACL (/var/vmail/
domain/etc/acls/.DEFAULT) seems to mitigate the problem which is
undesirable.

ACL Troubles
Using dovecot version 2.2.19.
In the config file I have the following to set up acls:

And here's my acl file:

I am getting the following error in the dovecot log file:

Also, my subfolders in the shared mailbox area are no longer visible or

ACL to make mailboxes populated by master account Read Only for regular users.
...sing Dovecot as a secondary mail archive. All mailboxes
are populated/groomed by master account and the actual users have only read
access.
This is achieved by a simple ACL approach.
dovecot.conf has
protocol imap { mail_plugins = acl quota imap_quota zlib }
plugin { acl = vfile:/etc/dovecot/acls:cache_secs=300 }
/etc/dovecot/acls/.DEFAULT file is trivial:
user=master lrwstipekxa
owner lr
It used to work with Dovecot 2.0.4 for years, but after upgrade to 2.0.18
users now have full access to folders created by master account and can
delete, add and move mails.
Should it behave this way? How can I...

Shared folders not listed by IMAP

ACL plugin when file in Maildir is not a directory

One more thing : would I have a log (or in what verbosity setup would I have
one) line complaining about no-acl in the system wide acl directory :
acl = vfile:/opt/dovecot/dovecot-acls:cache_secs=300
as a matter of fact, /opt/dovecot/dovecot-acls is empty for me (I don't need it
for now).
