NHW codec - progress 2
Hello, Just a quick message to correct what I have said in my previous post.It finally seems not that easy to code small wavelet coefficients to have a good precision, and SPIHT is certainly a very good algorithm for that, -and I know there are SPIHT experts that can make very good SPIHT-based codecs-.I have chosen a new and different approach, the multistage residual coding, so I will try to

[LLVMdev] Problems with DAG Combiner
...you > planning an ISA version with built-in i1 AND/OR/XOR? I've generated a back-end with built-in i1 AND/OR/XOR operations and compared the results against a back-end without these operations. Atm I don't have many applications I can test. I've one application that runs only the CABAC part of H.264 and thereby i1 AND/OR/XOR operations decrease the number of executed operations by 0.2% on a behavioural instruction-set simulator. I used gcc front-end, maybe clang uses more i1 instructions. Also the AND/OR/XOR promotion is not perfect. It produces the following code: ZEXT %r4,...

NHW codec
Hello, I don't have advanced on the NHW codec, but now, as a lot of people, I am following the AOMedia AV1 codec.Just a (late) update of my previous post, there won't be problem in AOM AV1 with the CABAC scheme, as the codec will use Daala's multi-symbol entropy coder and/or ANS.That's great! I have even read on the wiki page, that AV1 will use Daala's PVQ as quantization scheme.Wow. Also as a consequence, there are fewer interest now in the NHW codec, but I would still like to maintai...

Can you compile the CodeGen/Blackfin/basic-i1.ll test case? I never got that one working with legal i1. The

[LLVMdev] Problems with DAG Combiner
Hi Jakob, I forget to mention that I'm working atm on the old 2.5 release code base and not on the svn. So I don't know if the problem still exists. I'm going to test it now. > The Blackfin DSP can do simple i1 operations with the CC flag and > status bits. Initially I also marked i1 as a legal type, but it caused > a lot of problems. [LLVMdev] MergeFunctions: reduce complexity to O(log(N))
Hi Stepan, Sorry for the delay. It's great that you are working on MergeFunctions as well and I agree, we should definitely try to combine our efforts to improve MergeFunctions. Just to give you some context, the pass (with the similar function merging patch) is already being used in a production setting. From my point of view, it would be better if we focus on improving its capability
