diablo 1 fun and troubles
I have installed Diablo 1 lately and found Wine can't load the game
succesfully. I see a few frames of Blizzard's intro, then it freezes.
With Cedega 4.0 it works pretty well> I played for a couple hours then found
later I can't load my games back. Ain't that funny? It seems to be a menu
problem. Another thing I noticed with...

Router, Firewall, SIP Rewriter, and GnuGK
Hi
I am running firewall/router "brew" made of RedHat, Shorewall, Siproxd and
GnuGK on a box that connects through PPPoE to Internet. I run Asterisk on
another box behind of it and it seem to work fine for me.
I am thinking of replacing the router box because hardware is getting flaky.
I do not want to go through pain of assembling all this stuff together
again. Does anybody know of a Linux distro that would have all these things
running in it "out of the box"? It does not need to have the same
components, but should have the same funct...

What if this happens?
Does anyone have concern about this? What if Redhat stops giving SRPMS for
new releases and updates in public? If you buy a subscription to RHEL AS and
they have to give you the SRPMS because of GPL agreement can that person
provide those SRPMS to public again because of GPL? They claim they are
premium OpenSource company but they are still a company and for them money
is bottom line. Hopefully this is all legal and we will have SRPMS one way
or the other.

unsigned and signed ?
...t...
the difference is his wrapper takes raw data (before converting it to float)
as CHAR data, whereas my data is UNSIGNED CHAR... would this be an issue ?
If so, what would be the proper way for me to convert from char* to unsigned
char* ?
If it's not an issue, any ideas on what could be causing it ? (IE. the
format of my raw data etc which btw is 8000 samples/sec mono 16bps)
Thanks :)

Background command noanswer option
Hello List,
I am an Asterisk newbie, and I got a question about Asterisk Background
command's option "noanswer":
What is required from the user agent, such as a SIP phone, to be able to
hear the playback without Answer()?
I'm asking this because when I used X-Lite, I could hear the the audio file
but when I used a hardware phone (an ATA in fact) I couldn't hear it. The
ATA supports G711u, which is the codec I set for the peer. Only when I
change the dial plan to Answer(), then Background(file, skip)in
extension.conf could I hear...

The rsync transfers always fail at the 2GB mark.
The rsync output is as follows:

writing issues on arm build !
...s the situation:
I am using the ARMV4 release build from the speex website. Right now I am
simply trying to make an encode function using speex that will take an
unsigned char* of raw wav data (8000 samples, 8 bits / sample, mono) and
encode it using speex, and have speex write it somewhere so I can do..
whatever with it.
Simple ? I thought it would be :P
The main issue I am having right now that is stopping me, is my program
execution will never get past speex_bits_write.. speex_encode works fine but
speex_bits_write blocks forever and my program simply hangs. If this is a
common issue...

Dom0 eth0 has different MAC address than expected, ignoring
Hi,
I''m a newbie to Xen and I need some help. I saw user ''datto'' had a similar
problem but changed to FC4 to resolve it.
I''m currently running FC3 and Xen2.0.7. I did the usual ''make install'' and I
can boot into Xen dom0. However, my network card is not working. The driver
is found in the linux-2.6.11.12-xen0 tree but not selected. I rebuilt the
kernel by compiling the Marvel Yukon/SysKonnect SK98xx driver both in the
kernel and as a module but to no avail.
So the error message I have is

noise cancellation
...int instead
and just passed in the shorts, and it worked perfect :)
I am quite impressed with the quality, it sounds about the same as my PCM
data.. however..
The mic on my ppc picks up EVERYTHING in the room, and I mean everything,
including fans and whatnot.. is there a way to get that noise cancelled out
and focus on the speech only ?
I am using the ARM build by the way, if that makes any difference.. thanks
:)

I gave it a test and it seems to work fine on HPUX 11.0. It skips the
problematic mkstemp() call.
It also passed the largefiles test that I sent to the list recently.

Samba on Fedora 3 with Active Directory
Hi,
I am trying to set up my test lab with a Windows 2000 Server PDC and a
Fedora 3 machine running Samba. I am new to Linux but have gotten quite far
searching how to's and other peoples posts, however, I have hit a wall. I
have joined the Fedora machine to the domain, and I can see and access my
Samba shares from Windows when I comment out the "valid users" line in the
smb.conf share definition section, but when I have that line set to =%D I
get prompted for a user name and password when trying to access these shares
from Windows. I have my authentication s...

Some questions regarding CEntos
...s security announcements?
- Do Centos developers have access to RHEL3 machines or is everything done
on Centos computers? For that matter do developers compile the Redhat
released SRPMS + updates on RHEL computers or are binary RPM packages built
on Centos operating system itself? I am asking because it would seem to me
that using a full Redhat provided distro to build packages might introduce
less erorrs?
- What is changed from official RHEL releases besides the copyrighted logos
for each Centos release? I am not talking about packages in the addons
directories. Just the base os releas...

CentOS newbie just saying hello
...kind of a 'keeping my options open' thing!
This new G310 will be running Bacula to provide remote backup services
for 25 regional sites, and the other G310 is being used as a
mail/Web/Intranet (eGroupWare) server for our 250 staff.
Thanks to all those who made CentOS what it is - hope I can 'give back'
sometime by sharing my experience where relevant.

Windows Drivers for Wildcard FXO Card
And if you want to use it with windows telephony software, such as
answering machine or modem communications software, you can probably
take the drivers for the Intel MD3200 based modem, modify the .inf for
the Digium vendor and device ID.
I have not tried this, but since the MD3200 modem works that way in
Linux, the X100P may work that way in Windows. Then you would have a
$100 winmodem! Let us k...

xml output from * ?
...l,
I took delivery this morning of a used BetaBrite LED
display sign which I promptly set about playing with.
Having found a windows app that grabs XML headline
files from places like Slashdot and CNN as well as
stocks etc I had an idea.
What if I could get it to display stats from *? Things
like call volume, queue stats, message waiting info.
Now I'd be looking for someone to write this as I can't
right a line of code myself but perhaps as it has some
call center type application maybe someone would have a
go rather than bitch at me about how I want some free
developement done.
