Error reading dovecot.conf under vmware/archlinux

I have some problemes when dovecot read it's config file dovecot.conf
My config is :
Linux distribution : Arch Linux 0.7.2 Gimmick UNDER VMware session (VMware workstation version 5.5.2build 29772)
Linux kernel version 2.6.17
Dovecot version 1.0.rc17
GCC version 4.1.1
Using the 'dovecot-example.conf' as dovecot.conf =>
When Dovecot si compiled with :
