Oen source IP phone, maybe?
...ot;If I only had time...damn this sleep thing" ideas,
but I really wonder how hard/cost effective it would be to build an open
source IP phone or phone adapter (ala ATA).
In about 20 minutes of mulling and research, I figure you could do it for
about $40 in parts plus coding time...
1 DS80C400 Ethernet enabled microcontroller with built in IPV4/V6 stack
$10
1 DSP56K hardware DSP (you may even be able to dispense with this if the
C400 is fast enough to do the codecing...then you just need a 8 or 16 bit
DAC/ADC) $10
Misc parts/case/whatnot $20.

memdisk issues with 3com cards
...at this point.
The same disk image booting from floppy works fine, not abort/retry/ignore
errors, and the lan starts up I can login and do whatever necessary. This
problem ONLY exists on machines using the 3Com 3c9xx cards. (In this case I've
tried on Dell GX150/240/260 desktops, and Dell C400 laptops). Our other range
of machines usethe Intel E100Pro and its variants and have no problems with the
pxe served boot disk and bootup and logon great. Just the 3coms give me
trouble.
Has anyone seen this? or know how to get around this issue? (using the floppy

Re: Open source IP phone, maybe?
Hi!
I think it is a great idea.
The DS80C400 needs external memory, and/or flash. It have the Ethernet
integrated, but it is really slow (it is 8051 architecture), and yes, I
know it can go up ti 75Mhz, but only gives 18MIPS max. I would use
ATmega128 from atmel (16MIPS at only 16Mhz), take a look at:

Most effective amount of memory
What is most effective amount of memory for a RedHat 6.0 box used as a file / print / mail server?
I have 128MB in a Celeron 400 box running file/print/mail services & Gnome.
It seems a little slow.
Not sure if it's the RAM, video ( cheapo 2MB Cirrus Logic card) &/or hard drive Quantum IDE 6GB hard drive.

R for Windows crash on new laptop
...od.R")
The script I'm running (which obviously requires that the package
'rmetasim' be installed) follows. Beware that the script takes about 15
minutes to run on my old computer (the one on which it doesn't crash.
For what it's worth, that computer is a Dell Latitude C400 running
Windows XP Pro SP2, 866 MHz Pentium III processor, 512 MB of RAM). Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Offline Deduplication for Btrfs
Here are patches to do offline deduplication for Btrfs. It works well for the
cases it''s expected to, I''m looking for feedback on the ioctl interface and
such, I''m well aware there are missing features for the userspace app (like
being able to set a different blocksize). If this interface is acceptable I
will flesh out the userspace app a little more, but I believe the
