Tiered volume performance degrades badly after a volume stop/start or system restart.
I am fighting this issue:
Bug 1540376 ? Tiered volume performance degrades badly after a
volume stop/start or system restart.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1540376
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this, and
what a fix or work-around might be?
Thanks!

Tiered volume performance degrades badly after a volume
stop/start or system restart.
The degradation is very significant, making the performance of
an SSD hot tiered volume a fraction of what it was with the
HDD before tiering.
Stopping and starting the tiered volume causes the problem to

Date, date, POSIX question
I have been working with R extensively for several months. I switched
from SAS and Matlab to R. My question is
Can anyone explain the benefits and detractions of the 'Date' package
verses the 'date' package and verses 'POSIX' dates.
I have noticed several other packages use one or the other. Rmetrics
seems to standardize on POSIX. I can only see differences in

Help with understanding [[]] [] array, list, matrix referencing
Hi all,
I would greatly appreciate some help understanding how R references
arrays, matrices, lists, and objects using [[]] and []. I have read the
R guides and several tutorials but I am not the fastest kid on the block
so I am still having difficulty understanding this. For examples the
following code produces a 5 element list of 2X5 random numbers that I
then convert to a 2X5X5 matrix.

Install RMySQL with R 2.4.0
I just installed RMySQL 0.5-9 with R 2.4.0 on Windows XP and got the
following error message when trying to run a script with RMySQL:
Error in library(RMySQL) : 'RMySQL' is not a valid package -- installed

Any ideas?
Thanks,

Novice question about getting data into R
I found it easy to use R when typing data manually into it. Now I need to
read data from a file, and I get the following errors:

Can I create a timeDate object using only year and week of the year values?
For a model I am working on, I have samples organized by year and week of
the year. For this model, the data (year and week) comes from the basic
sample data, but I require a value representing the amount of time since the
sample was taken (actually, for the purpose of the model, it is sufficient
to use the number of weeks from the middle of the sample week to the
present).

Virus in message
Hey this group uses exchange for the mailing list? This can't be true
what is with all the virus warnings saying it came from exchange. But
not only that it said it was deleted and that is not true when the mail
reached me it still had the virus attached and my virus scanner deleted
it. When these messages are sent to the group aren't they scanned before
being sent to the list?

Why isn't R recognising integers as numbers?
I have a number of files containing anywhere from a few dozen to a few
thousand integers, one per record.
The statement "refdata18 =
read.csv("K:\\MerchantData\\RiskModel\\Capture.Week.18.csv", header =
TRUE,na.strings="")" works fine, and if I type refdata18, I get the integers
displayed, one value per record (along with a record number). However, when

Help re speech software for the visually impaired
Hi,
Not too sure what you're looking for, but Speex isn't a screen reader,
it's a compression algorithm. Also, there's no with thing as Speex
version V208.
Cheers,

Comment blocks in R programs
All,
Is there a way to add comment blocks in an R script other than using #
at the beginning of each line? Or, is there anything like ndocs for C++
and the markup for Java that can generate documentation?
This may be a bad question, but I have searched R documentation and
can't seem to find an Answer. I have also looked at the R package
documentation mark up docs for help files but

library/function that estimates parameters of well known distributions from empirical data?
I found this a few months ago, but for the life of me I can't remember what
the function or package was, and I have had no luck finding it this week.
I have found, again, the functions for working with distributions like
Cauchy, F, normal, &c., and ks.test, but I have not found the functions for
estimating the distribution parameters given a vector of values.
What I need to do is

theora encoder reordering, order of puting data from DCT 8x8 blocks to huffman compressor, and puting result of huffman compressor to buffer bitstream memory
Good day!
I'm creating HDL IP CORE (for using in FPGA) for theora encoder (now only
I-frames).
I don't undestand one moment. Now i develop such stages:
1. From RBG(byer) to YCbCr converter
2. DCT processing (8x8 pixels blocks)
3. Quantizator of DCT coeff.
4. Zig-Zag of quantized DCT coeff.
and now i have uresolved last stage of compression - how i must send 8x8
blocks to huffman compressor? I don't understand ordering.
I must send all DC coeff (Y, than Cb,Cr),...

records.

dotplot line types and strip question
Hello,
I have one question regarding dotplots and one question about the strip
function in lattice. In the following function I wish to use two
different line types in a dotplot. Specifying lty =c(1,2) does not
work. No matter what line type is specified, solid lines are produced.
The other graphical parameters pch and col work, however. How can I
change the line types?
