Bandwidth management under linux
In my search to control bandwidth on my network I found 2 projects.. 1. TC 2. BWM Tools - http://freshmeat.net/projects/bwmtools/ This brings me to 2 questions... Firstly, can TC control bandwidth in both directions? I read that it can only do 1 direction, which one I cant remember. Can you monitor the load on the queues you define? Does TC support IPv6? Secondly, BWM Tools s...

Old linuxbox as BwM
...d eth1. eth0 works at 256kbps, and eth1 might receive traffic at 800kbps as much (from Wireless Access Point) or at 10mbps from the wired network. ------- is wire cable ) ) ) ) is air link (aka wireless) All this stuff is just for asking if i could use the "old museum" AMD 100MHz for BwM of 800 kbps average traffic. This old PC also works as testbed for mi diskless linux test (ramdisks, initrd setups, etc) so, it is possible that it will work with only 8MB of RAM if I use 8MB for the ramdisk. So, consider both cases (8 and 16 of RAM). Thanks. -- Esteban A. Maringolo Buenos A...

Imq implimentation
...h1), eth1(live ip bridged w eth0), eth2 -lan(local ip) . eth0 and eth1 are bridge ports. I have implimented a shaper over bridged interface before and it is ok.But i was using just 2 interfaces then, now I want to use 3 interfaces. I have read in the lartc that to impliment multiple interface BWM with linux, one must use an IMQ device- I do not know if there is another method? So if anybody has implimented the scenario in the Jirii''s site or the one i described above using other method(s) other that imq,may he intimate me with a sample script to get started as I am yet to fully u...

Hi, I have a little question about memory usage... When I do a free, I get: total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 18482800 18030668 452132 0 683068 9426792 -/+ buffers/cache: 7920808 10561992 But, when I do a ps, mysql is the only process that takes noticable memory; and it is far from 7.9GBs...
