Icecast logging
Hi Guys, My first post here so hello to all :-)) Anyway, my question: Does anybody know if there is a tool out there that can process the icecast log files and return a graph of listener numbers over a set period? I'd like to be able to know when our most busiest time was. Thanks very much in advance, Andy

Bandwidth requirements for 1, 000, 000 minutes a month
...ay expose my ignorance, but here goes :) I've been asked to figure out how much bandwidth would be needed to handle 1,000,000 minutes a month. Here's the environment: ) All calls are received via SIP. ) All calls use the ulaw codec. ) Calls average 10 minutes in duration. ) The "busiest" hour will account for 10% of the daily total. This is how I'm figuring it... Casual observation shows that SIP setup and teardown takes about 26 UDP packets. Assuming the packets are full (512 bytes) this adds up to about 13 kilo-bytes for each call. I've heard that ulaw (includi...

Agent Question
Hi, All, I have a question about agents and queues. Right now we have about 4 queues in our system. Some agents are in multiple queues. Our main queue is for technical support and it's by far our busiest queue as well. We have the autologoff feature set to 14 sec right now in the agents.conf file. The problem I'm running into is we don't want people in our sales queue (who are also in the support queue) to be auto logged off from the sales queue. Is there a good way to seperate agents an...

union_lookup panic ...
...though, the "trigger" for the panic is pkg_delete ... if I build a jail'd environment, using unionfs, SSH into it, make install a port and then pkg_delete it, it will cause the panic ... The machine that it happened to recently isn't the "fullest" one we have, nor the busiest ... the 'busiest' one we have just went 31 days up, with all the inherient create/delete/moves/etc of files ... Even on a test box I tried a little while back, where the only activity on the box was my doing the pkg_delete, it panic's, so it seems to be very easy to recreate, but it...

Problem on Outgoing Calls (FXO - SIP)
Hello, We have a high volume of incoming and outgoing calls that come in via our analog POTS lines connected to FXO cards in an Adtran TA750. This is connected to a T100P. We are using Polycom IP 500's. The problem we are experiencing is, on frequent occasions, when someone dials out, there is another person who has just dialed in. I have had this problem at my house before (without an *

Suggestion of Server Specifications for Asterisk
What the minimum Server Specifications do I need to run 200 concurrent channels at the time with .WAV recording (MixMonitor)? It will be connected via VOIP sip account. Codec will be ulaw. Which UK dedicated server provider do you recommend and how much bandwidth do I need? Thanks -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Performance issue.. after a while
..., I have an project running on a dedicated server: Debian, P4 CPU 3.00GHz, 1GB RAM, ruby 1.8.4 (2005-12-24) [x86_64-linux], rails (1.0.0), activerecord (1.13.2) lighttpd-1.4.10 + fastcgi + mysql 5.0 7 dispatchers. The project is a game, so a typical user would visit 100+ pages. When the server is busiest, it gets 35-40k requests/hour. For some misterious reason after a number of hours the whole thing starts moving slower, typically the server load goes up to 5-8 and I know that I have to either start killing dispatch.fcgi processes, or simply restart the whole thing. It is definitely not the fact...

Garbage collection outside of request cycle?
I''ve been analyzing our Unicorn-powered Rails app''s performance, and have found that garbage collection is a big factor in slow requests. In the interest of avoiding those performance hits while handling requests, would it be possible to have a unicorn worker run garbage collection after handling a request and before waiting for the next one? Would this be a good idea? Cheers,

constantly increasing load in Asterisk 11.14 (Sebastian Damm)
Have you considered doing a daily reboot? In our shop (about 14 sites, busiest doing about 90 000 calls per day) we found it best to reboot each Asterisk instance at 23:45 - we're still running an ancient version (1.8.0.11). Once this regime was instituted our major Asterisk issues stopped, especially load-related issues linked to uptime. Note that we do not just restar...

hunting timeouts
Hi guys, I inherited a Dovecot 1.0.1, which I will have to upgrade, but until then I need, if possible, to resolve a timeout. - we have about 25 IMAP users - the busiest user has about 100 000 messages (Maildir) in less than 100 folders - the mail server is on HP server with server grade 2.5" HDDs in RAID 5 - the load average of the server is low (the 5/15 minute is under 0.20) - the mail server is in-house on Gigabit Ethernet The timeout we face is that some...

Problems with queue announcements under high call volumes
.... My hunch is that these problems are closely related so I'm treating them as one issue, but please correct me if I'm mistaken. Overall, the audio quality in these scenarios was understandable, but with intermittent drops that were accompanied by a tinny sound. Unfortunately, in our busiest queue (which had 150-250 people in it) the drops made the playback completely inaudible. Asterisk's log file reflected these problems with a large number of the following message: Apr 16 14:30:01 WARNING[19451] file.c: Failed to write frame Given that we are stuck with the hardware and...

df command reports inaccurate results?
Can anyone help make sense of this? This is an ext3 partition. It's only showing 403GB out of 426GB used, but then it says only 632MB available? Where'd the extra ~25GB go? Printer down - completed jobs still in queue - NT_STATUS_DRIVE_FULL
...nt jobs' list. 2. The problem is the same regardless of client platform. XP users see the completed jobs still in the queue, as does the linux command line 'smbclient //odin/laserjet -c "queue"'. 3. The problem is the same regardless of printers. The one that crashed was the busiest printer - so it's queue filled up the fastest. 4. When the printer crashed, I got a "printer failed to start" or "could not start print job" error from XP client. I tried to manually print from linux - smbclient //odin/laserjet -c 'put file' - and received a NT_STAT...

Benchmarking auth
Hello, I'm attempting to use imaptest to test auths/sec on my imap server, to simulate the number I'm getting now on a new server. Based on my readings of dovecot stats outputs, my current machine is doing somewhere between 11.6 and 196 logins/sec at its busiest, and I want to make sure the new server can handle that amount. With imaptest I attempt to simulate this by just simulating login/logout speed, but I'm not sure I understand the results and where things are being blocked. For testing purposes, I set: mail_max_userip_connections = 6000 ma...

OT: [opensuse-offtopic] Microsoft struggles to get Hyper-V drivers in Linux kernel (fwd)
...hich it has worked on for more than two years Microsoft <http://www.networkworld.com/subnets/microsoft/> isn't exactly dumping Windows <http://www.networkworld.com/topics/windows.html> for Linux <http://www.networkworld.com/topics/linux.html>, but it has become one of the busiest contributors <http://linux.slashdot.org/story/11/07/16/2316251/Microsoft-Developer-Made-the-Most-Changes-To-Linux-30-Code?utm_source=rss1.0&utm_medium=feed> to the Linux kernel. Dovecot 1.0-stable mbox performance and disconnections
I've got some of our busiest users now using Dovecot instead of UW-IMAP with mbox-format mailboxes and predominantly Outlook Express as the client. Doing some perfomance monitoring (with Solaris 8 process accounting), it looks like Dovecot needing to read only 30-50% of the disk blocks needed by UW-IMAP, but I was hoping f...

wxRuby 1.9.2
...revious wxRuby release, this one has been driven by user contributions: patches, suggestions and bug reports. Thanks to Sean Long, Sean Lindsay, Mario Steele, Christophe Bludau, Chauk-Mean P, Dirk Traulsen, Gregor Schmidt, Bela Babik and others who''ve helped out. September 2007 was our busiest month yet for wxRuby downloads - just shy of 2,000. Average monthly downloads are two or three times what they were just one year ago. So thanks all for your support & patience as the library has matured; keep it coming! cheers alex

G729 licenses
Hi, all!!! What will Asterisk do in the following case: For example, we have 4 licenses, and have 4 simultaneous calls, using G729. Will asterisk allow incoming calls from peer, that can talk G729 and ulaw, and will it force it somehow to use ulaw in this case? All phones there in LAN behind Asterisk prefer GSM codec, so it does transcoding. So, what I mean is will Asterisk fall back to use
