NT Problems with Samba
Okay - all I'm trying to do here is smbclient from my Slackware Linux box
(SNUFFY) to my Windows NT 4.0 SP3 Server (BURT). Burt is a BDC and is
participating in WINS via my internal WINS Server. The Scope ID for the
WINS Server is HARVESTWEB - but I'm not sure how to set that in SAMBA. My
password server (I assume) should be my PDC with is GROVER (146.115.109.8)
Eventually, I want to be

Burt table from word frequency list
Dear all,
I have a word frequency list from a corpus (say, in .csv), where the
first column is a word and the second is the occurrence frequency of
that word in the corpus. Is it possible to obtain a Burt table (a
table crossing all words with each other, i.e., where rows and columns
are the words) from that frequency list with R? I'm exploring the "ca"
package but I'm

Granstream BT100 - only partial success
We are having many successes with Asterisk and starting to get the hang of
it.
But, I am still having problems getting my Budgetone BT100 (firmware
1.0.4.50) to work fully. I can receive calls, but cannot make them.
We have the latest version of Asterisk, Fedora Core 3, Digium TDM400P with
one FXO and one FXS card configured and working well. We have a PSTN line

reboot sometimes freezes, adaptic scsi card possible problem
On reboot, one out of 10 times, reboot (from hardware initialization) stops.
Referring to this portion of the dmesg -v output, of a successful boot,
where i have marked ">>>HERE<<<" is where the boot freezes on an
unsuccessful boot. This is a constnat problem, on 6.2 as well as 6.3
unchanged.

Symlinks for Windows
Hi all,
Dave Burt mentioned the possibility of adding symlinks
to the Dir class.
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/misc.shtml#junction
There is also Autrijus Tang''s symlink Perl module at
http://search.cpan.org/~autrijus/Win32-Symlink-0.04/
Looks easy enough, but it only seems to work for
directories, not regular files. Should we add this to
the Directory class, or simply

[PATCH] Fix support for Linux kernel images with no protected mode code
Some kernel images use the Linux kernel boot protocol and header
structure, but do not actually have any protected-mode code. For
instance, grub's 1024-byte lnxboot.img consists of 1024 real-mode bytes
and 0 protected-mode bytes; you can concatenate it with a full grub
core.img to produce a self-contained bootable kernel, but you can also
use it standalone as the kernel with the core.img

Install error - disc 2
I am doing a fresh install of 6.3 from DVDs that I created on a Windows
laptop. I used ImgBurn to create them. When I started the install I selected
"test" and both discs passed. The install requested disc 2 and after putting
it in I get the message "That's not the correct CentOS disc". I tried
creating another disc but still get the same message. The installation

RH8.0 kernel lockup with PXELinux on x440
Howdy. We've got a couple IBM x440 (Summit) 8-way Xeon systems that I've
been trying to get netbooting for a while.
Since we use Kickstart and SystemImager to load OSes on our systems, a
system has to be able to netboot before it can be made available to folks
for project use.
System BIOS is the current one, v1.08. They're booting from a planar
BroadCom Tigon3 adapter. BIOS

syslinux vs isolinux - com32 serial port output problem
I have a need to display text to COM2 before loading a kernel. The easiest way to do this was to invade menu.c32 (menumain.c) and add a function to send the string out to the serial port just before the selected menu "label" is executed. In menumain.c, my function is called just before 'if (cmdline)'.
The code I wrote to initialize the hardware and send individual characters

Group Policy
I hope I don't get a ton of flames for this but I am wondering if anyone
knows a way to migrate a samba 3 controlled domain to an Windows based
Active Directory domain. Let me explain why.
I want to continue to use samba as my file and print servers but I
really need the ability to use Group Policies. As far as I know there
is no way to do this without ADS. I would like to have a Windows

Printers and Faxes folder
We are in the process of uploading drivers to the samba server. Everything
seems to be working but it is very slow. When you browse to the Printers
and Faxes folder it takes a good 30 - 60 seconds to see the printers. I
have also noticed that when you try to send a print job you seem to get the
same delay. Below is what I am assuming to be a logged event related to
this problem. File

Detecting numerical value in character variable
I have a variable that can have either numeric or character values.
When numeric, I take one action; when not-numeric, I take another action.
Unfortunately, my approaches are awkward, so I look for others' approaches.
To detect a numeric value, I have semi-successfully used two appoaches.
I somewhat simplify here using direct character values like "123" rather than a variable.

hi there,
is there any possible way to control traffic in child??? class with

there is root class 1:0 with subclass 1:2
in class 1:2 all ip adresses have their bandwidth limit 1:{iden}
and now i try also control bandwith in this class
i.e. if class 1:{iden} have 190kbit

Optimization of constrained linear least-squares problem
Dear R-ians,
I want to perform an linear unmixing of image pixels in fractions of
pure endmembers. Therefore I need to perform a constrained linear
least-squares problem that looks like :
min || Cx - d || ? where sum(x) = 1.
I have a 3x3 matrix C, containing the values for endmembers and I have a
3x1 column vector d (for every pixel in the image). In theory my x
values should all be in the

R-beta: command-line editing not working in Debian Linux version
I get great flexibility with command-line editing through the "readline"
library in the "bash" editor and the "ncftp" tool. S-Plus has this editing
and I see in the preliminary "Notes on R: A Programming Environment for Data
Analysis and Graphics", page 65, that "R -e" might give this functionality.
Typically, one can use either vi or emacs

Compiling a package
Hello,
I am in Win-XP R:2.3.0
latest rtools and Perl - of today
I got Rcmdr.HH source code and tried to compile it myself
copy all directory to R/R-2.3.0/src/library/Rcmdr.HH
from R/R-2.3.0/src/library
I typed:
..\..\bin\R CMD build --force --binary --auto-zip Rcmdr.HH
* checking for file 'Rcmdr.HH/DESCRIPTION' ... OK
* preparing 'Rcmdr.HH':
