Linux Bridge + QoS Shaper HOWTO available
...a pretty complete HOWTO on creating a Linux Bridge (using Fedora) to shape LAN <--> WAN traffic. It includes installation instructions, a script to configure the bridge (which you install as a service), and 2 scripts to configure the network interfaces using traffic control. http://www.burnpc.com/website.nsf/all/3a64a6369757819686256f960068ad75!OpenDocument If anyone has any questions or feedback I''m very interested. This configuration has evolved over the past 6 months and is somewhat tweaked. The highest priority traffic in my config, is of course, IAX2 (Asterisk VoIP p...

load balance a file download across two connections - success!
...to assist users getting around any firewall restrictions, etc. After configuring Flashget I made some rules on my linux load balancer saying that port 80 (to the specific ip) goes out the cable modem, port 81 out the DSL. I realized 550KB download speed! Here''s a screenshot: http://www.burnpc.com/images/flashget1file544KB.gif Here''s what I did in my shell script: echo "balancing easynews..." load balancing between two default gateways
Hi list gurus, long story short we have firewall machine which is the default gateway for our clients and firewall send traffic out to Internet via cisco router. On cisco we have two serial interfaces 1Mb and 2Mb. On firewall #route add default gw xxx.xxx.xx.xxx (for 2mb) #route add default gw xxx.xxx.xx.xxx (for 1mb) and the same rule for Imb link route packets via these two links. However I

packet shaping bridge
...audio that''s choppy and drops off for seconds to minutes. I know there''s enough bandwidth to go around but I need limits set. I''ve created a bridge called edmbr on a Mandrake 10.1 server with 2 nics. The bridge works just great thanks to Don''s script from burnpc.com. The problem I''ve run into is in testing my filtering. After fixing the bugs in my first script I went to tweaking its settings. I''m using htb as it seems simpler for me to use at the moment. For some unknown reason to me all traffic is being sent to my default classid 1:...

Help? Router/Bandwidth throttle needed.
I hope this list is still active. I''m an experienced Linux Sysadmin, but I haven''t done much in the way of routing. Due to a decision made by my higherups, I need to jam a computer between my ISP and my LAN to do bandwidth throttling. My current setup: 1 Crappy Cable Modem (7Mb/768Kb connection) with a static IP. 4 servers (all have static, routable IPs) - One of which is

load balancing and failover
Hi, A friend of mine has 2 lines of 512kbps terminated in two Linux boxes. He now want to remove those 2 boxes and have some device which will loadbalance the two ISPs and also have a failover arrangement. But he has agreed to give me a chance to do it on Linux for my own satisfication. Is this easy to do with lartc? How do I go about it exactly? I have very less time to do it since his

Starting from scratch w/ multiple uplinks
Hi guys; I''m sure you are all bored of hearing the same story over and over... but here it comes again. :) Yep, tomorrow I''m getting another ADSL line installed and I wanted my linux router to handle both providers (new and old). I have my linux router (fedora core 2) setup to do NAT for my current line, but I know I''ll need to change my configuration to
