Can compressed music sound better than uncompressed?
...to reproduce the audible signal. Because a perceptual coder removes inaudible signal content, the playback system's ability to convey audible music logically should improve. In short, a perceptual coder more properly codes an audio signal for passage through an audio system." I wanna kill FWD.... GRRR!!!
...d me saying they were there. Ok I call it says "Please Hold" then says "All circuits are busy"... Ok fair. I call like 25 times. Well needless to say FWD side must not be paying attention or something because it keeps streaming media at me. I have been taking over 1.2mbit of bullshit from FWD's network since midnight CST. The funny part is this isn't the first time FWD has done this to me. Jeff Pulver if you are paying attention to this list PLEASE work with us to find and fix this issue. Its most irritating. Thanks, Brian

origination providers
...t really want any per-minute charges) origination provider which can handle a moderate number of simultaneous incoming calls (to the same, single DID)? Many of the providers I've tried contacting either won't call me back, or want me to sign an NDA just to get a rate quote, or some other bullshit. Most of the providers whose rates are plainly posted on their website have a limit of at most 4 or 6 simultaneous calls, which is not likely to be enough for the application I'm considering. You can reply off-list or on-list, as you prefer. many thanks, mike -- mike castleman network / s...

Mail server troubles
Hi, This is probably a bit OT, but here goes. I've been running our local school's mail server since 2013, with mail addresses for school staff and some teachers. The server is running CentOS 7 with Postfix and Dovecot, and it's a nice no-bullshit configuration with SPF, DKIM and DMARC. The school sends quite a lot of email out to parents, and sometimes, mail gets rejected: --8<-------------------------------------------------------- <xxxxxxxx at orange.fr>: host smtp-in.orange.fr[193.252.22.65] said: 550 5.2.0 Mail rejete. Problem with shared xls file. Could it be blamed on rsync?
...works ;) I fetched my tape backups. I have one for every day for this server. All of them had either the overwritten (ok, backup too new) or the version before they started to share. Now my question. Who is the suspect? Could it be that rsync just can't handle such files or that excel does some bullshit? I hope the later is to blame ;) Thanks in advance for help or hints! Streaming live from windows
...t; > You can use the Oddsock plugin from oddcast.org which can do this, in > conjunction with Winamp (not open source) or Foobar2000 (not sure, might > be open source). definitely open source, and a recommendation, since it does not *beep* with the registry too much, has a clean, no bullshit interface, supports a large number of codecs and is one of the few players that will work with restricted privileges on w2k.

postfix 2.3 SMTP AUTH and Outlook
....org/Authentication -- more precisely the line "LOGIN: Similiar to PLAIN, not very useful. [in 1.0-tests only]" -- I think, that this line is a little confusing. Becouse since one can use Dovecot for SASL authentication, "LOGIN" is starting to be useful (because of the M*S* bullshit). Regards Tony

possible bug: using assert_recognizes with extras
...#39;}, ''items/list/1'', { :view => "print" } this works fine, the test passes, however. If I write like this assert_recognizes {:controller => ''items'', :action => ''list'', :id => ''1'', :view => ''BULLSHIT''}, ''items/list/1'', { :view => "print" } The test also passes, which worries me a lot, I would expect it to fail. To me it looks like a bug in assert_recognizes, it ignores the additional ''view'' option value in the extras hash parameter. J...

The UI is lean and missing features, but the > large availability of tooling (either targeting GitHub directly or > plain git) makes up for a lot of it. Just like with the "Everyone knows git", I call bullshit on this. Sorry, but the far majority of GitHub users know little more than the most barebone functionality of Pull Requests and the typical use case in most projects is to squash all changes. But at this point it seems clear that the real goal is to just move everything to GitHub just for the sake...
