How to use expression(italic()) in a "vectorized" way (within a function)?
...ion() for creating labels in a splom, as shown in the first minimal example below. Is there any way I can simplify having to write "expression(italic(...))" several times? The second example is what I tried so far, but I can't manage to get italic() to work. Moreover, it still seems bulky... Cheers, Marius ## minimal example (working but bulky) U <- matrix(runif(900),ncol=3) lattice::splom(~U[,1:3],varnames = c(expression(italic(U[1])),expression(italic(U[2])),expression(italic(U[3])))) ## also bulky (and does not incorporate italic()) f <- function(x){ do.call(express...

Length of song calculation
...39;m writing a playlist creator app for radio stations (in Delphi) which supports WAV & MP3 files & I would like to add OGG support. All I need is the ability to read the length of the track from the file header. The documentation on the website is beyond me. I would rather not include a bulky library that does everything else. Does anyone have any Delphi code or can point in the right direction? Changing R_LIB_USER variable in ubuntu...
...ge the location where R installs packages not included in the base installation (using install.packages()). Right now it is saving them to "/home/ken/R/i486-pc-linux-gnu-library/2.11" like it should based on the default R_LIB_USER setting in /etc/R/Renviron. I think that this is quite a bulky filepath and would prefer to shorten it (ie. "~/R/2.11/library"). Unfortunately, /etc/R/ is read only for me (as is /usr/R/). Therefore I can't change the R_LIB_USER variable. I understand the rationale behind protecting /etc/ and /usr/, but is there any way to customize this v...

Weird failing spec
Hi guys, I have a weird failing spec, for which I just cannot figure out the reason of failure. I''m now rewriting my controller specs based on the advice of David and Ashley, and I got stuck on this (see: [rspec- users] specing rescue, ensure and else blocks of an Exception). http://pastie.caboo.se/111221 I''ve tried everything, like stubbing out :update_attributes! , even

Writing tests with Filecheck without emitting output to stdin
Hello I have pass operating on bitcode file which produces more than one equivalent representation. opt --my-pass <%s | Filecheck %s --my-pass generates files a.rpt b.rpt c.rpt . How do i write test without writing all 3 files to stdin. I have considered CHECK-LABEL for each. it creates bulky checks. newbie - best place to put methods used in controllers?
Hey guys, Where is the best place to put methods called in your controller? I ask because my controller file is getting bulky with code that doesnt need to be called directly. I was wondering if I could put it in the application.rb or if there is some way to put it in the helper? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Doing operations by grouping variable
...# make data frame max(d$variable[d$group]) # try expression that doesn't work I'm expecting a vector containing the maximum variable value, per group. What am I doing wrong? I know I can use aggregate, tapply, etc. but that seems awkward and bulky, is there a simpler way? Dr. Seth W. Saving plot to tiff, with high resolution for publication ?
...400 - 800 DPI Color (only CMYK): 300 - 400 DPI (DPI = dots per inch) Since I am sending a graph, I am trying to save it using tiff. Here is the code I am using: tiff(filename = "c:\\aaa.tiff", res = 800, pointsize = 2) plot(1:100) dev.off() But sadly, it produces a very "bulky" image (and if I where to not use pointsize = 2, I would get the error massage: Error in plot.new() : figure margins too large ) I am clearly missing something basic here about the use of DPI, I would appreciate any help in figuring this out. Thanks! Tal ----------------Contact Detail...

OT: cheap DVD-RAM media?
...But the media seems to be quite expensive. I guess mostly because all the places I found were selling it in most expensive option: as single disc in a nice (and useless) case. Haven't found a single place that sells them on spindle. At the end, I ended up buying a 3-pack, with each media in bulky movie-type case (what a waste of space). Does anybody know of any place that sells DVD-RAM media cheap (in bulk, on spindle)? [RISCV][PIC] Lowering pseudo instructions in MCCodeEmitter vs AsmPrinter
...them to isCodegenOnly = 1 and then teach AsmParser to recognize them (I would need to use the reloc model there too). Does this make sense? Alternatively I was considering adding two new pseudos like RISCV::CALL_PLT and RISCV::TAIL_PLT and also lower them at MCCodeEmitter. But this looks a bit too bulky to me and I think I would still have the issue that the "call" and "tail" pseudos in the assembler would need some extra magic (i.e. when assembling a "call" pseudoinstruction with -fPIC) so they don't end being parsed as the non-PIC counterparts. I might be wrong...

Some suggestions.
Good day. Some suggestions. 1. I think it would be useful to add support of "seekable streams" to Speex API. It seems many developers need functions like: GetDuration(), SeekToTime(...),... Something like VorbisFile for Ogg Vorbis. 2. It would be useful to add some samples on working with Speex files. E.g. something like vcut for Ogg Vorbis. Vitaly.

Regression line limited by the range of values
...this turns into a line that is thicker that it should be (due to rounding errors perhaps). I got the tip to use "segments", and draw one line from min(x),min(y) to max(x),max(y) but with real data with a bunch of "na.rm" and "na.action"s this becomes very long and bulky. For a regression with two data swarms and two trend lines it becomes this long mess: <>plot(TCgonad[Period=="1"], ABelly[Period=="1"],xlim=c(0,20),ylim=c(130,160), col=?blue?) points(TCgonad[Period=="2"], ABelly[Period=="2"],col=?red?) segments( m...

CentOS Images on AWS with partitions on /dev/xvda1 are awkwared to resize
...n's tendency to use "/dev/xvda", "/dev/xvdb", etc. for each disk and use those directly as a file system. The result is that if you elect to allocate a larger base disk image, for example allocating 50 Gig to allow local home directories or space for "mock" or for bulky logs, and don't spend the time to select and allocate new disk images, it's awkward to simply expand the "/" partition. And with only 8 Gig allocated in the latest CentOS 6 images that I see in AWS, it's possible to get pretty pressed for space pretty quickly. Now, AWS publis...

ADSL routers with integrated SIP QoS for other devices
...d to my thread a few days ago "SIP devices with packet loss tolerance". One of the suggestions that came out of that thread was to replace routers at users' premises with ones that support QoS. I've used m0n0wall's QoS in the past with reasonable success, but it's quite a bulky and complex setup for deploying to remote sites which I'll never visit (minimum 3 boxes - ADSL modem, m0n0, WiFi AP). So, does anyone have any recommendations for a wireless ADSL router with integrated QoS for SIP/RTP? I've looked at some of the Draytek units (e.g. Vigor 2700V), but I can&...
