Still can't mount Samba shares from other Samba server
I am *still* unable to mount shares from a Ubuntu 10.04 server, using a
Ubuntu 10.04 laptop. I totally re-formatted both my desktop and my
laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 (so that they would be using the same version
of Samba). I am using the exact same smb.conf for the 2 machines (less
the share definitions, which exist only on the desktop, known as
"workhorse"). wbinfo -u, wbinfo -g,

wine: Unhandled page fault on read access
Hi,
Thanks for the tips. I tried with winetricks but gave me a problem to get this installed, I finally did it semi-manual. As you said I could open an sample set but nothing more.
I then upgraded to wine 1.3.8 today. Will this overwrite the winetricks dll's or not? I could start the application open and save a dataset although they seem to be empty!?.
I started to move deeper into the

CIFS, Kerberos over SSH tunnel (change service principal?)
I'm trying to set up a CIFS mount to a NetApp F840 called 'elmer' over
an SSH tunnel. I also tunnel the Kerberos ports to the Windows AD
server 'cannonstreet' Using Ubuntu hardy, with recent updates for CIFS
that are claimed to work:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/236830
I tunnel like this:
ssh -f -N -x -o TCPKeepAlive=yes -L88:cannonstreet:88

aMSN segfaults at login after configuring my home network
After configuring my home network, aMSN segfaults.
I posted this issue originally in the aMSN forums under this thread:
http://www.amsn-project.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7593
I was told that my issue is related to SAMBA, referring this thread:
http://www.amsn-project.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6343
After uninstalling SAMBA, aMSN stops segfaulting and works as expected.

[lamont+buildd@hp.com: Bug#162718: flac_1.0.4-1(hppa/unstable): FTBFS: non-PIC code in shared object]
It looks like libplugin_common.a is being linked into the shared object
libxmms-flac.so. In that case, all of the objects in libplugin_common.a
must be compiled with -fPIC.

Acer Aspire 5739G - Wine doesn't work

I've recently received said notebook as a gift. Currently it's running Kubuntu 9.10, however Wine just doesn't seem to work - any aplication I try to run on it gives an error message 'The program has encountered a serious problem and needs to close', whether it's a game, WinRar or an installer. In fact the only .exe files that work are the ones included in wine

r-base build: failure to convert R-FAQ to pdf
We have received an email in Ubuntu alerting us that something strange was
going on during the r-base 2.7.1 rc build (see [1]).
It seems that there is an error during the convertion of R-FAQ.texi to pdf.
The following excerpt, taken from [2], shows the problem:
