Using rsync for buidling Oracle standbys.
Hi, We currently use rsync to create an Oracle standby on a target box from an existing standby by copying all the datafiles while the source standby is in recovery status. We are occasionally running into datafile corruptions being reported by oracle when it is recovering the new standby. Oracle support says they don't recommend copying files while the changes being applied to them unless

[LLVMdev] Compiling LLVM-Clang with MinGW on Windows
I'm a Windows user, and wish to run LLVM-Clang on Windows. In Visual Studio 2010, buidling was fairly straightforward via the solution file from CMake. However, there is no good document (thought I searched for an hour) how to compile LLVM with MinGW on Windows. I generated MinGW Makefile and build directories from CMake. I installed entire MinGW+MSys packages. I tried to run "m...

Build R with MKL and ICC - make check fails
...file.common:93: recipe for target 'eval-etc.Rout' failed ------------------------------- This warning is displaying all along the make process, but does not break the build as only a warning: ignoring environment value of R_HOME What can I do to fix this and pass the make check? As I am buidling a .rpm package for my distro (Fedora 22), I would like everything to be clean. Thank you for hints. -- google.com/+arnaudgabourygabx

Postgresql and Dovecot
...without using postgres (ie passwd and pam). There is nothing in /var/log/messages other than: Aug 28 12:44:05 mail dovecot: dovecot startup succeeded Then ps -A shows no running dovecot processes (or the imap-login or pop-login). I have tried with both the RPMs that are on the download page and buidling it myself on 2 different boxes (yes I configured with --with-pgsql - Red Hat 7.3 and Red Hat 9.0). Any suggestions would be appreciated as this is the only imap/pop server with pgsql support and flatfile support I can find. Michael

Makefiles: includes and rule prerequisites
...lt > later and all kinds of problems will happen. I wasn't questioning the first 10 lines to build the directories recursively but the following lines of rules without recipes used to resolve dependencies. In other words, can things be structured to work on building say %.o %.elf but stall buidling %.c32 until the dependent libraries are finished. Then again, it may just not be worth it. -- -Gene

Waiting does not work, believe me, I tried it :-) If you want to be involved and active in the Promo SIG, we should use this list to discuss things (like the TODO list that I once wrote) and you obviously need Wiki access to help maintain that part. Not everything in that list fall...

10.0 BETA3 - nanobsd.sh does not use pkg
Hi, all, I just wanted to report that. I do not yet have a patch to suggest. nanobsd.sh cust_pkg() still tries to call pkg_add and fails when adding packages to the NANO_WORLD_DIR. tbz vs. txz ? How does facebook’s Share a link feature work?
I wanted to implement that feature in a Rails application I''m buidling. A user posts a url, and voila, he gets a better representation for that url. I already dealt with a similar feature before where the requirement was to replace a given url with the page''s title and favicon. Facebook go beyond that and if it''s youtube it gives you an embed ob...
