Poor performance with openldap 2.3.x (Berkeley DB 4.3 or 4.4) on XEN 3.0.x
Dear all,
With or without /lib/tls librairies activated, A search in openldap is very slow on XEN 3.0.x . Cpus do nothing .
15000 entries are dumped in 2 minutes whereas same search without xen are dumped in 4 seconds (with far more activitie on CPUs)
I have already see one or mail about this problem . But I don''t see a solution , perhaps a threading problem between Berkeley DB and

Enlarge ext3 Logical Volume (Filesystem) in a volume group (LVM)
Anybody know a way to enlarge a filesystem ext3 without having to unmounted it, when they are still space left in the volume group (when using LVM) ?
I will be running large production linux system running Oracle.
I can't stop the database everytime I have to enlarge a filesystem.
We can do it with all others filesystems (JFS, REISERSFS and XFS) when they are created in a volume group. Why

ext3 filesystem lost.
...stion
read-only, but this hanged as well. When the filesystem came back up,
the filesystem was gone. The rest of the disk (the partition table) was
still healthy.
We are running 2.2.19 with ext3-0.0.6b and the Openwall-patch[1]. Debian
potato R3. Ordered mode journaling.
Ideas?

FSCK of corrupted ext3 filesystem
Hello,
I have a 1.3TB ext3 filesystem that has been in service for about 3 months.
About 6 days ago the Emulex fibrechannel controller logged a SCSI error
and the filesystem changed to RO.
It appears that the filesystem instantly changes to RO and prevents the
journal from working, therefore invalidating the filesystem.
The filesystem was unmounted and a remount was attempted. The mount

freezeing the ext3 filesystem
Hi,
I discovered that SGI XFS for Linux har a utility called xfs_freeze,
which freezes the filsystem and makes sure that the filesystem is
consistant. It is a bit like a mount -o remount,ro but it does not fail
when applications have open files.
When we take snapshots of our XFS volume, we do "xfs_freeze -f /mnt/foo;
lvcreate -s /dev/vg_foo/bar /dev/vg_foo/bar-snapshot;xfs_freeze -u

ext3 file corruption
I recently patched our 2.2.20 production kernel with the ext3 patch from
kernel.org and have experienced failure on more than one account.
Everything seems to run great until the power goes out and the box isn't
shutdown correctly. After that files are missing and the box won't boot.
All of the partitions were mounted ext3 ordered mode I think. Anyone else

ext3 corruption with vanilla kernel 2.4.19?
Hello
After compiling and booting a RH 8.0 box with a 2.4.19 vanilla kernel
i've started to experience some problems on my /home partition, (i/o
errors on 2 files).
After rebooting the machine failed the to mount /home and dropped me in
the recovery shell.
The fsck is still running after 9 hours.
The system is a dual athlon MP with 1Gb ram and ASUS MB.
the /home patrition is mounted on 3 120

Getting started with Xen
Hi List,
Being very new to Xen I have a few generic questions for the list, I
hope to grab some useful advice and pointers to documentation.
I am evaluating Xen to consolidate a few existing servers into one
appliance (mainly in order to reduce power consumption, heat, and
hardware failure risks). I plan to have a SER router, an Asterisk LCR
router, a voicemail server, a calling card server

2.0.7 -> 3.0.0 upgrade
Hey all,
I''m thinking about moving my 2.0.7 install over to 3.0.0 for eventual use in a
production environment.
Two questions:
1) Do people think 3.0.0 is ready for production - or is it just a
testing/unstable playpen?
2) What do I have to change - just the xen-2.0.7.gz for do I have to recompile
the dom0/domU kernels too?
Cheers,

feature-request: fs mounted only once
Hi.
Would it be hard to somehow make sure that a filsystem can only be
mounted once? Shared storage is a pain and it would be nice if one could
guarantee that a filsystem is only mounted by one computer.
I guess this _might__maybe_ be implemented by using a block on the
filsystem as "ping"-block. Mount would write a "ping" to this block, The
kernel would then have to check
