What is an error bu21? (PR#1106)

Then, when I test the installatuion by invoking make check , I got the
following error message:

don't know how to make ../../library/base/R/base (bu42).

I tried the gmake settings.
Yet, I still got an Error code 1 message when I run the test.
running regression tests
don't know how to make ../library/base/R/base (bu42).

problem in making R from sources on SGI IRIX
...the make appears to complete OK with some non-fatal linker warnings. I then run "make check" and get the following error message:
