smbtar multiple machines
Hi all, I'm just looking at using smbtar to backup the Win95 PC's on my network, and would like usability ideas please. The tape drive I intend to use is in our RS6000 and has a capacity of 20GB before compression which means that I will be able to fit plenty of PC's onto one tape as all the PC's have <3GB HD's on them. cross subnet browsing (win Xp problem)
I've got to networks connected through leased line, routing set between networks, WINS server running on Samba. There's one primary samba server, and Win98/WinXP clients connected to it. First network with samba server works great with win98 and winxp. Second network also works ok with win98 clients, but when I connect Winxp it can't even open "my network places" and show

Samba shares on Linux machine get disconnected after ~ 1 min
Hi, I have Samba 3.0.13 running on Suse 9.2 on an i586. I can browse and connect to the Samba shares on the Linux machine from Windows XP and Mac OSX. However, about 1 min after connecting, the shares are lost and gone from the network environment - same for Windows XP and Mac OSX. nmbd Hogging CPU on Mac OSX (10.5.4)
Hi All, Firstly, I know this is a MacOS X issue and not sure if you guys can help, but I'm really hoping you can since I don't appear to be getting any joy elsewhere. Running OSX 10.5.4 and recently (last week) nmbd is hogging the CPU. I know this is a part of the Samba server on OSX, hence the post to this mail-list. Authentication only on NT Boxes not accepted
Hi folks, I'am using Samba 2.0.0 on a Linux and a Sun box and i have the following problem: I can log in from a smbclient but not from an NT Client using Security=Domain. 1.) Doubleclick on the machine opens the password dialouge (which should'n appear, beacuse i'am already logged in the domain) Enter my domainusername and password.
