Weird POSIXct behaviour
Friends I have an xts that I wish to access. Browse[2]> DATA.ba[[p]]["2012-03-20 00:59:57","bid"] bid 2012-03-20 00:59:57 1.4993 So far so good. Printing problem, CUPS
Hi, I have a wierd problem regarding printing. I use the CUPS-backend on a debian-box to share printers with samba. Sometimes for no apperently reason, a win-box (XP-home) just can't print after a reboot... and no matter how many reboots the win-box makes it just stops working, and dosen't work until samba is restartet.... and its not a samba crash, because other win-boxes prints

Cups printers. Won't print first page! sometimes not atall.
Hi, I use Samba and cups on my debian-box to share printers, but sometimes, for no apperently reason, windows machines (XP-pro and XP-home), sudently won't print after reboot and this is only solved by a samba restart. Other times the first print after win-reboot, just gets lost, and never apper in the cups-printing log. It's not domain controled, but everyone is mounting their

Browsing across subnets - some more problems
Hi all, I am still battling to get browsing across subnets to work. I just need some clarification on some issues. I understand the following things to be the case, please correct me if I am wrong: - Machines on a subnet will periodically announce their existance by broadcasting to everyone their identity - Other machines will hear these broadcasts, and add the machines to their browse lists. -

SAMBA Browse Lists Sync DMB and LMB
Hello ! I have a problem of syncing browse lists between DMB and LMB. The topology of ours network is as follows: Linux Network comma(Linux, DMB, WINS) vol(Linux) door(Linux, LMB) | | | | | | | | | --------------(195.226.226.16/28)------ | | | | | | | --(local net

Browing in Samba4 AD domain
Hello guys, Rowland :) I recently had the opportunity to configure a Samba 3.x server which acts as a WIN server. For testing purposes only, I've configured a group of 4 Windows machines to use my Samba 3.x host as WINS server but unfortunately those 4 hosts were not able to see each other in the windows browsing list. I might guess WINS is only providing NetBIOS name resolution but no

As far as Samba is concerned it uses both, DNS & NetBIOS, but instead of using WINS, it uses DNS to find the machines and then 'nmbd' produces the browsing list (this is

Wins, browsing, browse.dat and wins.dat
Hi, I have troubles understanding wins and network browsing functionnality. I have a samba server(pdc) on a different subnet than my clients. The server smb.conf has wins support = Yes, the client are configured to use the wins server. In the wins.dat, i can see all the computers. In the browse.dat i have only computers/servers that are in the same subnet. When i try to browse the network

multiple subnet browsing problem
I having difficulty getting browsing to fully work across two subnets. The subnets (having private addresses - 192.168.x.0) are connected by Linux boxes (RH6.1, one for each subnet) functioning as firewall, IP masquerade and router. On one subnet (call this one LEFT), there is an NT4.0 server as the PDC (also running WINS and DHCP) along with 50 or so clients and other servers (NT, Win9x) in

Delete dead browse lists
I've run into this problem a few times now and still haven't figured out how to fix it without shutting down my entire network. We get a lot of guest and transient computers belonging to different workgroups. The gleefully add themselves to the SAMBA domain master and the SAMBA master browse never gets rid of them. Isn't there some sort of timeout or interface where these can be

more inter-subnet browsing wierdness
We are seeing some strange inter-subnet browsing issues here, our setup is as follows: .129 subnet [ samba box ] | | [ router ] ^ _.1 subnet _/ \_ .9 subnet_ The .129 subnet contains only the samba server configured to the letter from the browsing.txt file. The .1 subnet conists of win98 and winME boxes all configured from DHCP to use the samba box for WINS lookups.

Browing in Samba4 AD domain
I actually have nmbd running on my Samba 3.x domain member server. Does nmbd need an special setup for maintaining the network browsing list for windows machines? Problem browsing shares "element not found"
Good afternoon, I have a new Samba414 install on clean Ubuntu server 12.04. All working except I cannot browse into shares. I get "not accessible" and then "element not found". Using "net use" works fine - I can "browse" a share that has been attached to a drive letter but I cannot browse the UNC path. That is to say NET USE P: \\MYDOMAIN\public works,

browsing multiple workgroups on multiple subnets
Is it possible to browse multiple workgroups on two or more subnets? I have set up samba on either end of a VPN and can browse successfully from either end, but only in the workgroup that samba is configured for. Can Samba be a member of more than one workgroup at the same time? Looking in browse.dat I can see all the machines in samba's workgroup and also the other workgroups, but not the

Accessing Package NEWS (NEWS.Rd)
Okay. So, after having spent quite some time never really tracking down why my package NEWS files were unacceptable to readNEWS(), I noticed that there was recent (to me anyway) development that allowed the NEWS to be done as an Rd file. Sweet! A more standard format... I converted a NEWS file in one of my unreleased packages to Rd format. checkNEWS() gave it a thumbs up. But then it went south.
