Nagios object inheritance
...et/docs/3_0/objectinheritance.html Any way this can be added to puppet? It''s really a show-stopper since inheritance is key to having a more easily managed nagios install. Cheers, Scott For reference, here are the 2 threads I was talking about: http://groups.google.com/group/puppet-dev/browse_thread/thread/8539b09b91a40482/86c319d4db219bc7?q=#86c319d4db219bc7 http://groups.google.com/group/puppet-users/browse_thread/thread/684d0eb328aaa7b5/7ad52f8adbe9bd9b?q=#7ad52f8adbe9bd9b --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Googl...

[LLVMdev] clang optimizer does not remove unused/uneeded variables(and accesses) from global scope
addition to my last post: http://groups.google.com/group/llvm-dev/browse_thread/thread/afd85c3f303ec2a9 i know that using static on my globals will remove them - no other compilation unit can then extern the vars but my question is - in this closed szenario clang is "directly" producing the exe - isn't clang aware of that the vars are not in use? btw: the mi...

request.session_options broken?
...expiration date for some time in the future. After googling around a bit I found this post which seems to address my problem: http://squarewheel.pl/posts/3 My modifications to request.session_options are being ignored. According to this discussion ( http://groups.google.com/group/rubyonrails-talk/browse_thread/thread/f2e945a4b1ce3cf2/b2ba91b16a10fd0d?#b2ba91b16a10fd0d ) using request.session_options to modify your session cookie is currently broken. Is that correct? Thanks! James

problem with xul/prototype experiment: "bind" method not found
Hi everyone, I was playing around with xul + prototype, and everything seemed to be going well until I ran into a wall - there seems to be some problem I can''t explain with Function.prototype.bind, for instance when I run this code: try { new Ajax.Request("http://localhost:3000/search/hello", { onComplete: this.onHelloComplete.bind(this) }); } catch

Problem with syntax checking
Hello! I''m trying to use pre-commit SVN hook for checking puppet syntax. For it I try to use some scripts from this thread: http://groups.google.com/group/puppet-users/browse_thread/thread/50ff2eb268f982da?pli=1 But when I try some of the scripts I see the common problem, expression like this: # puppet --parseonly --ignoreimport file.pp produces no output, but "file.pp" has a known broken syntax. What I need to change in this statement to see information about synta...

About prototype.js and xml dom
Hello, I''m looking for a cross-browsers library based on prototype.js that wraps XML dom. I tried to extend XML dom elements by using Object.extend and Element.extend without success. It works fine with firefox (Object.extend) but don''t work with IE (msxml). I suppose that IE objects are not ''prototype based'' objects. Is there a way to go around this issue like

Problem with toQueryParams()
I''m sure this has been covered before, but here goes... Anybody noticing some odd behavior with submitting forms through Ajax.Request? I thought at first it was a problem with Form.serialize, but was able to trace it back to line #975 (in prototype 1.5.1_rc2) which calls "toQueryParams" on the parameters that are passed into the new Ajax object if it is a string. This is the

LiteSpeed Web Server 2.2 with Ruby Rails integration....
Fellow Rail users and developers, Right now the easiest way to run Rails is in combination with Mongrel. However, it may not be a good idea to expose Mongrel directly to the outside world in a high-load production environment. In-addition, Mongrel_cluster + proxy + load balancer have to be used even for a single server deployment making the unified setup more complicated than needs be.

Executing SQL in rails, and the types of the data returned
Hi, Every once in while I have to run SQL by hand, in my models mostly. But I''m wondering if there is a better way of doing it than I do. And, I have a question concerning types of the fields in the result the query produces. First, about the types. In a certain model, to get and return the value of a boolean function, I have to do: result =

Installping puppet with kickstart -- Cannot find local fact /proc/cpuinfo
...puppetd --server ... --one-time --no-daemonize as part of the late_command with a chroot /target . But this fails saying cannot find local fact /proc/cpuinfo . I tried to a mount /proc in the script but the machine hangs. Is this a known problem http://groups.google.com/group/puppet-users/browse_thread/thread/b2e38f8ee8052b9c has a solution but it does not work . The only difference I can see is that it runs the puppetd as -in-target instead of a chroot . Any ideas will be helpful -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. To pos...

I tracked the freeze down to the call to ActiveRecord::Base.verify_active_connections! in rails.rb on line 26. After scouring the nets I finally found: http://groups.google.com/group/activemessaging-discuss/browse_thread/thread/7cbbcd761fcb0fd8 which led me to the mongrel faq: http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/faq.html specifically the questions "Mongrel stops working if it''s left alone for a long time.", and "Why do I get MySQL ''lost connection to database'' errors?".
