Astricon hotel recommendations.....?
...oks like I'm going to make the trip over to Astricon next month, but finances being what they are and since I'll be paying for my own flight from the UK, I'm trying to cut down on costs. The problem I've got is that the hotel is about 4 miles from the nearest public transportation (Brookhaven station) and the shuttle bus is only for hotel residents. Hiring a car seems a little like overkill (and expensive) when the public transport seems to be very good. So... does anybody have any recommendations for a cheap hotel/motel I could stay in? Also, if I have to get a taxi/cab, how much is...

ext3 filesystem corruption
...n the alternate HBA. On the first 2 instances we sort of tried to blame the controller. On the 3rd, that was harder to do since the raid system and the hosts stayed up but lost communication. I can provide more detail if anyone as any info on how to proceed. Thanks -Sev -- Sev Binello Brookhaven National Laboratory Upton, New York 631-344-5647 sev at bnl.gov

AstriCon Update: Very Low Priced Ground Transport Available
...associated therewith are something of an issue. So, in the spirit of making AstriCon available I've contacted the hotel and arranged/discovered some low cost options: -- MARTA -- MARTA, the Atlanta mass-transit system (i.e. train) can get you there. Take MARTA from the airport north to the Brookhaven station. The hotel shuttle will pick you up from the MARTA station. Total cost: $1.75 each way. -- AAA Airport Shuttle Service -- AAA will take you directly from the airport to the hotel for $20.00 (normally $25.00 -- we will have a link to a coupon on the site soon). Same price to take you ba...

User quotas. A recurring question
One question that keeps coming up in my discussions about ZFS is the lack of user quotas. Typically this comes from people who have many tens of thousands (30,000 - 100,000) of users where they feel that having a file system per user will not be manageable. I would agree that today that is the case however I personally don''t see this as an insurmountable problem. However the questions

Power-outage
I have a CentOS-5.6 remote server in a house in Italy, where there are occasional thunder-storms. There was one yesterday, when the electricity went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion. My server, an HP MicroServer, came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions, but not on the third. I assume that the problem arises because the machine does not close down properly. (Although it is
