Date, date, POSIX question
...ult formats, and the starting counting number be it 1 1 1900 or something else. I am trying to standardize code that I write for research and to provide to my students on one date schema. The documentation is very good on using a specific package, but I can not tell the which one provides the broadest coverage across R packages or is just the better one to use. I know all of you have more experience with some of these and I am just soliciting your opinions and comments. Thank you Joe

[LLVMdev] GSoC proposal: TGSI compiler back-end.
...t subset of the CL tests from the piglit suite [1]. In any case I believe that it would be more important to concentrate on writing a clean code base (that would be likely to be reviewed by others and accepted into mainline in the future) and addressing the main design challenges (ideally with the broadest possible consensus from the community and the least possible quantity of target-specific band-aids working around limitations of the common infrastructure) than to concentrate on feature completeness. Among the issues that have to be addressed is the fact that TGSI is a stack-less architecture (th...

Theora, great stuff!
I manage the audio-video section of the GNU web site http://audio-video.gnu.org/. I have tried the Theora codec and am very impressed by the level of integration with free desktops and the bit rate/quality combinations. I intend to move all video content to the Theora codec partly for technical reasons but mainly to promote free and open formats. I do have longer term worries, projecting

...ly stored. So you would have to define a map type with 1000 separate logical channels before the situation you worry about could come about. If we forget fancy research stuff like high WFS (upto 192 channels, the last I heard; OTOH this means 255 channels might not be enough for everything) the broadest types I've heard of are Tomlinson Holman's 10.2 (12 channels) and third order periphonic ambisonic (16 channels), so I don't think this will present an issue any time soon. Similarly, it is an easily detectable encoding fault if any of the indices stored in the table exceed the num...

grouping function
Hello, I would like to write a function that makes a grouping variable for some panel data . The grouping variable is made conditional on the begin year and the end year. Here is the code I have written so far. name <- c(rep('Frank',5), rep('Tony',5), rep('Edward',5)); begin <- c(seq(1990,1994), seq(1991,1995), seq(1992,1996)); end <- c(seq(1995,1999),

It's difficult for an individual to decide, and it's difficult for a project or company to continuously push themselves to make sure they are the best option for the broadest number of users. > How do others, who were using and promoting the Red Hat "Enterprise Linux" > ecosystem, handle this new situation? Respectfully, I don't think it's new. We've had RHEL, SLES, OEL, CentOS Linux and Ubuntu for more than a decade. Rocky, Alma, whateve...

target-features attribute prevents inlining?
Hello, I'm new to LLVM and I recently hit a weird problem about inlining behavior. I managed to get a minimal repro and the symptom of the issue, but I couldn't understand the root cause or how I should properly handle this issue. Below is an IR code consisting of two functions '_Z2fnP10TestStructi' and 'testfn', with the latter calling the former. One would expect the

Sticking with POSIX might make us work more (as in, write technically superfluous code), but I've always felt fewer nasty surprises are waiting to ambush us that way. I don't think we have documentation that describes the broadest intersection of these OSes specifically. (We don't even have conflict-free documentation just for Linux!) Laszlo
