rsync failed: Too many links
Dear Sir or Madam,
Has anyone seen a error message like the following?
rsync: recv_generator: mkdir "/home/kmiller/briefcase/1205275" failed: Too
many links (31)
rsync: stat "/home/kmiller/briefcase/1205275" failed: No such file or
directory (2)
As far as I can tell, I am not using any symlinks or hardlinks.
Please find below a reasonably complete bug report. Please let me know
what I should do.

local briefcase on my win98/ME machines. it works with the
same share on my winNT box.

I don't get any error messages, but the file doesn't show up
in the briefcase?!

2 Probs: Mangled Case & Briefcase
...well, I
suppose) is that whenever I do a "File - New - Text Document" on a Samba
share from a Windows client, the file has all upper case whereas when I
do the same thing on the local hard drive it is mixed case.
The second area where I sometimes experience unexpected results is with
the briefcase from the client machines. I have a directory on the
server which is mirrored locally via the briefcase. Sometimes I locally
put new files into that directory which are then copied to the server
using the "Update all" function of the briefcase. This works as
expected. The strange thing...

Windows 95 Briefcase
Hello everyone...
I have been using Samba v1.9.16p11 for a little while now and I just
noticed that when I create a Windows 95 Briefcase on a Samba drive it
appears as a folder (directory). This also happens when I move a
briefcase created on a local drive to the network. I admit a small degree
of ignorance here because I do not have an NT box to test the setup with
so I do not know if this is a Samba bug, a Win 95 bug, or somethi...

Creating a Briefcase on Samba shares?
Is there a way to successfully create a working Briefcase on Samba shares?
When I create one in a Samba share, it has a regular folder icon with a
desktop.ini file in it. Openning it reveals a plain folder rather than the
usual Briefcase applet. When I create one on a Windows NT network share it
works fine, but all our big filesystems are unix-based Sa...

m$ briefcase / access question
Hi all,
I've just realised Samba doesn't appear to support M$ Briefcases, which is a
bit of a shame as I've just designed an Access Database system that needs to
replicate between Servers on five sites, and we've just converted the
client's NT Servers to Linux Samba Servers.... (now, finally, things work
properly!!)
So, presuming there is a God up there so...

lib/util_str.c:safe_strcpy ERROR: string overflow by 1
...Vista and XP clients, the other has more conventional shares with the Vista PC's as domain members and acl's in use.
I've seen some weird behaviour with the Vista clients at the first site. For example a Vista machine can create a folder but can't rename it. Someone using a windows briefcase on their vista pc syncing to the samba share sees very poor performance. nmbd is running and dhcpd is giving wins details to the network. But does Vista take on the Wins info?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

The situation is as follows:
Users no longer have unix private group, their primary group is 100

ok and attribute mapping is fully turned on (hoped this would cure the
sync briefcase becoming a regular dir after roaming logoff/login).
File/Directory masks are all 0777.
I'm experiencing many problem with this configuration so please give me
some hints (documentation pointers if necessary): MS Office keeps

How to debug not working Roaming profiles on Samba 4 AD setup?

The OGG Extension...
...meone HAD the "official" Ogg player, it could be set to open both of the above and handle them both appropriately, regardless of extension.
As for the launcher... an undoubtedly neat idea, but it seems more like a novelty than something that would actually work well. (a la M$'s "Briefcase" that came with Win 3.1 and 95) The main problem I see here is implementation. How are we going to get this launcher onto the client machines? Are we going to "require" WinAmp to distribute the Ogg Launcher? is it going to come bundled with the WinAmp Plug-in? Are we going to say......
