delivery agent in 1.0?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi :)
Is there any plan to include delivery agent in 1.x?
I would be very happy, if there would be lmtp delivery agent included
with dovecot 1.x... This would make creating large mailsystem cluster
creation very simple + indexes would be always up2date.

Username from rfc822Name subject alternative name
...username (less invasion in code, but less
flexibility as well).
Any input/recommendation/directioning is welcome. I've wanted to
actually first write a patch, and then submit it, but I think it might
be better to check what would be preferable by Dovecot maintainers/devs.
Best regards

Dovecot 2.1.4 and client certificates
...vecot 2.1.4's configuration
won't work.
I've compiled Dovecot by hand, and I'm not running it in any kind of
chroot (this is a developer set-up so I could add support for
rfc822Name username extraction I mentioned a week or so ago without
messing around as root).
Best regards

Major Bug in Samba 2.0.4b with AIX 4.x
Dear samba-Team,
There is a bug in Samba 2.0.3 and 2.0.4b with IBM AXI 4.x.
The Bug prevents connecting of other users than root to any

I have a workaround/fix tested on AIX 4.1.5 ,4.3.2 with
gcc 2.8.1 here:
Change samba-2.0.4b/source/lib/util_sec.c

Public free (libre) mailbox hosting service for everybody!
Hello e-mail software developers and users!
I'd like to ask all of you a question. And of course hear relevant
opinion.
I've been using free software happily for a few years, and I found
free/open source alternatives for many popular proprietary tools such as
Facebook, Dropbox, Micro$oft Windows & Office, Youtube, Skype and many
many others. Some of the alternatives are probably

Dovecot CalDAV server
I've been once in a while over the years thinking about implementing CalDAV (and CardDAV) to Dovecot. It might be time to start that soon. Does anyone have any suggestions? So far my main goals would be:
- scalable, of course
- configurable storage (object storage, regular fs, maybe some key-value dbs, maybe storing as emails)
- efficient indexes (potentially using key-value dbs? or maybe

Oracle on ext3?
Hi All,
we´re currently running an Oracle DB un SuSE 7.2 with
kernel 2.2.19 and 0.0.7b ext3 Patch.
Do you have any recommendations for maximum performance
with the Database? Tablespace Sizes are about 15 GB User,
10 GB Temp. Main Operation of DB is reporting (index load,
table scan, arithmetic operations).
Which mount option should be best (concerning performance)?
Hints welcome.

Cyrus SASL 2 fixes for MySQL
...e up with a few
patches which seem to work well for me.
Please see: http://people.freebsd.org/~bms/cyrus-sasl-improvements.diff
The features are: improved debugging messages, optional use of an SSL
transport, and the ability to use MD5 hashes with MySQL or other auxprop
plugins.
Credit is due to Branko Gr?nar <bfg@noviforum.si> for the last two features.
I have tidied there to make a cleaner diff for 2.1.15.
At the moment this is a diff which can be applied to the cyrus-sasl2 port.
If there's further interest I'll roll the patches into the port itself with
toggle switches.

1.0-test63 released

A new test release for a change. Fixed several problems with indexes,
especially related to transaction log rotating (pretty easy to find bugs
when you set them to be rotated every 5 seconds and keep bombing the
same mailbox with 10 test clients).
Please report both new and old bugs. The changes might have fixed lots
of different randomly occuring problems.

2.0.5a configure bug fcntl test on automounted source dir
Hello,
I believe that I have found a bug in the 2.0.5a configure process. If
the source tarball is extracted to an automounted directory, and you
run configure, it will fail the fcntl_lock test, resulting in this
message at the end of the configure process:
WARNING: No locking available. Running Samba would be unsafe
To verify that the automounted directory is the problem, I put an

Samba 2.0.5a: couldn´t set effective gid error
Hi together,
I?m heavy dealing with a strange behaviour of my samba server. When I

pair in a Tree Connect or Session Setup are invalid.)
smbuser exists in both the passwd and the smbpasswd and is assigned to
not have a password.
In the log.smb (loglevel 3) I find
