filter/exclude confusion ???
...s have short names, I hope that I can either
specify them inline rsyncd.conf on [B]; or, inline to the CLI on [A].
I am confused with man rsyncd.conf, where the manpage states:
"it only applies on the daemon"
I have tried specifying this several ways, in the CLI on [A]:
-f - /bragi/ \
-f - /brono/ \
-f - /jord/ \
-f - /loki/ \
-f - /odin/ \
_both_ before and _after_ specifying source and destination.
I know that the rest of the syntax I am using is correct, because
_without_ those filters, it brings everything across ;<
What am I missing?

Routing problems - Apache proxy vs. Webrick direct
I dropped the use of fastcgi because I could not get popen working (see
''[Rails] Apache2 and popen''). It works under WebBrick. Since CGI is too
slow, I thought I''d proxy to WebBrick via Apache.
I am having routing problems now with escaped slashes in the URL.
Here''s my routes.rb:
map.connect '''', :controller => "wiki"

does rails enforce referential integrity???
Hi,
Is rails supposed to support referential integrity? That is rails
either support to be able to ensure that when a new contact is created
this can only happen if a valid suberb is associated with it, and which
mechanisms of the below are supposed to do this?
(a) using DB foreign key constraints information as a basis?
(b) using the "has_one" line in the model file to enfore?

Log viewer for colorized logs
Is there a decent log viewer for colorized log files?
less -r for me doesn''t work well, as it sometimes clears the screen.
I''d like:
* Either a console type less viewer which just removes the colors
* Or, even better, a console one which handles the colors without
clearing the screen
* Or, best of all, a GUI viewer - maybe even with color
I use both Windows and Linux.

svn externals and Edge Rails
Hi all:
I am considering using edge rails so I can use join tables. I want to
use svn:externals to manage edge rails, however I want to understand
it more before I go and set everything up. so everytime I commit my
app it will pull the most recent version of rails from the svn
repository, right? What if the current version of rails is unstable,
is there a way to rollback edgerails and NOT my app?

assert_not_nil assigns(:city)
#?? how to assert that city.bar is 1234

Modules, controllers and inheritance
Hi!
I was trying to cleanup my app and I runned into quite a problem. My
controllers in submodule do not seem to inherit things from base
class.
I have following setup:
app/controllers/
application.rb:
class ApplicationController
admin/
admin_controller.rb:
class Admin::AdminController < ApplicationController
include LoginEngine
include UserEngine

Rails logger: how to access it in a my own class
Hey Guys,
The only way I could find to access the Rails logger object was to
subclass from ApplicationController... can anyone suggest a more
sensible way of doing it?

No more logs after SVN?
Hello,
Yesterday I "subversioned" my app using svn and now everything works fine except I don''t see any log entries in development.log?
What would cause the log entries to be not produced anymore?
Thanks

record to.
this is the form:
<%= form_remote_tag(
:update=>''statsTable'',
:url=>{:action=>''new''},
:html=> {:action=>''new'',

string interpolation - #{} vs. single vs. double quotes
Could someone point me to documentation that provides a succinct and accurate description of the difference between interpolation using #{}, single quotes, and double quotes ?
I imagine there''s a set of precedence rules that govern behavior if/when they''re mixed. I''d like to get clear on this.
Thanks,
Bill

Newbie Q: "user" variable in every view?
Newbie to RoR -- as a long time Java Struts/etc. guy it is an awesome tool!
I have implemented some basic login/session stuff with the help of a great
tutorial, props to the author (
http://www.aidanf.net/rails_user_authentication_tutorial).
I have a trivial instance method in ApplicationController, which just grabs
the User object from the session.
def current_user
session[:user]

I''m trying to use respond_to to redirect visitors who have JS turned off to a different page. The problem I''m having is that respond_to is sending *everybody* there. It''s not recognizing that JS is turned on in the browser. The wanted_html.rhtml file below is rendered whether I''ve got JS turned on or off. I''ve looked at the Accept headers being sent

MySQL vs SQLite
I have an application where speed is probably the #1 priority here. I am
using MySQL 5.0.22. Would SQL be considerably faster than MySQL?
I know this has been discussed before, but the search on the forums is
not working.
Thanks for your help.
