network raid file system/server
hi,
we've a few 10-20 server in a lan each has 4-8 hdd. we'd like to create
one big file server on these server hard disks and we'd like to create
it in a redundant way ie:
- if one (or more) of the hdd or server fails the whole filesystem still
usable and consistent.
- any server in this farm can see the same storage/filesystem.
it's someting a big network raid5-6... storage where

...maildirs somehow?
- I've got a few plan in my mind it it possible to do it with dovecot
now or in the near future (if yes what is the estimated time)?:
- authenticate from LDAP, the best would be trough PAM?
- use the same user with different domain. eg: lfarkas at bnap.hu,
lfarkas at bppiac.hu with the same imap server? handle more domains.
- use imaps and use Digest-MD5 and/or CRAM-MD5?
- put a database backend under imap and store the mails in a database.
- use WITHOUT local users? it's very important! most case a user never
ever log into the local system and I would n...

samba in centosplus
hi,
it'd be useful to include the latest stable samba packages in the
centosplus, since samba.org do not build binaries for rhel just for old
redhat and fedora releases.

(long) kvm and virt-manager not ready for daily usage
hi,
in the last 2 weeks we play a lot with our new server which we but to a
our virtual server for the development and collect some very subjective
experience. we use kvm and virt-manager, but sometimes i'm not really
sure about the whether it's kvm or virt-manager problem so i collect
them together. our system:
MB: Intel S3000AHV
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
RAM: 8GB

how to change distro live?
hi,
we've got many mandrake 8,9 and 10 system remotely. we'd like to
remotely replace these systems to centos 5. we've 4 disk in them. one is
the system drive (no need for raid) and there is free space on the
remaining 3 disk. so what we think about:
- download the new system to the data disks
- install grub (mandrake has lilo) to boot the old system and reboot
- create the old system

RFE: please include quota waning patch
hi,
it'd be very useful to include the quota warning patch in official
release. without it the quota support is not really useful since mail
simple dropped when quota is over. and most enduser never know what
happend, they just recognize mails are not coming:-(
thanks.

config files
hi,
now as dovecot can be more and more conf files it'd be better to move
all of the to a same place under eg. /etc/dovecot/. or if this is a
simple setup may be one /etc/dovecot.conf can be enough, but all other
files in the examples and docs can point into
/etc/dovecot/{sql.conf,acl,dict-quota.conf} etc.
just my 2c.

kvm in testing
hi,
in testing the kvm version is kvm-kmod-36-2.2.6.18_8.1.1.el5.src.rpm
shouldn't it be 36-2.2.6.18_8.1.10 or at least 36-2.2.6.18_8.1.8?
it has reason or just a bug?
thanks.
