Can't create any KVM template due to the error with libguestfs
Hi,
I'm using SolusVM control panel to create KVM VPS. Suddenly, I can't make
any template on Host-Node. Their build log says the SolusVM can't read the
libguestfs in server.
Please check here.
/scripts/kvmtemplate --mode=prescan --vmid=kvm124 --generation=2
"libguestfs: error: guestfs_launch failed.

Don''t understand :: in ActionController::Base
Maybe this should apply to Ruby forums directly, but I''ll try here.
I understand the concept of classes and subclasses thanks to the
excellent "Programming Ruby - The Pragmatic Programmer''s Guide".
However, I don''t understand what :: signify in terms of inheritance,
parent and child in e.g.

Left Joins with Rails?
Everyone,
I have two tables (assuming their most logical types):
apartments
id
address
bedrooms
bathrooms
googlemaps_id
googlemaps
id
url
the models:
class Apartment < ActiveRecord::Base
has_one :googlemap
end
class Googlemap < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to :listing
end
I would like to find_all by searching the attributes in apartment, and
also return the google map

Net2Phone equipment and different VOIP providers
Hello we are a small call center with only 8 lines we use max4 and the 2-2 port gateways from net2phone . There equipment is good but we are getting hit by lower cost competition. We need to be able to compete. We have a couple of providers who are 50% less in some cases even more. So it makes sense that we would like to be able to compete . Since we have spent quite a bit of money on existing

Are there any (preferable opensource) pre made widgets like calendar
widgets, treeviews, sortable grids, etc.. that I can
pluginto a rails application?
If they are not build in Rubyy, then are there any examples an how to
integrate them?

Session variable data validation
I''ve been using rails for about a month and I''ve been noticing that most
of my controller functions use values from my session variable. I find
that I write something like:
person = Person.find(session[:person]
if( person )
# ...
else
flash[:notice] = "unable to retrieve person"
redirect_to( :action => index )
end
It seems redundant to write similar code for

ActiveRecord: Oracle metadata loading slow on large database
All,
While attempting to use ActiveRecord against a large database, approx.
1700 tables and 4 million rows, I discovered an inefficiency in
oci_adapter.rb. The problem seems to be the SQL being generated to
lazy-load the columns metadata. "def columns(table_name, name = nil)"
method generates the following SQL:
select column_name, data_type, data_default, nullable,

Logwatch for postfix
On CentOS5 with the latest updates applied, the logwatch filter for
postfix returns way too many lines from the log. I get an "unmatched
entries" message and all messages that have gone through the system is
listed.
Here is an example:

Large-scale application
Hi fellow railers!
We are discussing the possibility of writing a very large application in
Rails. By "very large" I mean a framework that would contain a few
hundred smaller applications that would need to talk to one big database
and have to share some common session data I''d like to get some
feedback on some possible ways of doing the following:
The application would

Scaffolding for pre-existing database table in 2.0.1
Hi,
first of all I will apologize in advance for my presumably noobish
question, but I''m only starting to learn Rails and am a little
confused with all the changes in 2.0.1. There are as good as no
tutorials out yet and the 2 or 3 screencasts I''ve seen deal with the
creation of both the app and the database.
Now my problem is that I already have a database with a fair amount of

It''s actually REALLY easy with lighttpd on linux.
Two apps...

Each application needs this in the environment.rb
/apps/code/config/environment.rb

I Would Really Like to Try RoR but...
it''s been a nightmare trying to set it up. I keep getting a an
Application Error message when I try to navigate to a url which should
be taken care of by my newly created controllers. For instance, I
wanted to test RoR out so I created a MyTest controller which should
allow me to navigate something like:

but it does not. I have no problem getting

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
The build failed at the end:
