Acceptable version mismatch between syslinux 6.0N's MBR/ldlinux.sys and *.c32?
...lly is: once all
Tails users have a stick in version N that ships, say, syslinux
6.03-pre1, and the next upgrade to version N ships with 6.03-pre14's
COM32R modules, will running syslinux 6.03-pre1 on the upgraded stick
(that has 6.03-pre14 COM32R modules) make it unbootable?

We end up generating the (non-hybrid) ISO image with something like this:
genisoimage -J -l -cache-inodes -allow-multidot -A "The Amnesic
Incognito Live System" -p "live-build 2.0.12-2;
http://packages.qa.debian.org/live-build" -publisher

-boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table -r -b isolinux/isolinux.bin -c
isolinux/boot.cat -o binary.iso binary
Then we post-process it into a hybrid ISO image by running `isohybrid -h
255 -s 63 $IMAGE`.

Snapshots vs filesystem shares
...ll.
Is it expected behaviour that filesystem shares get into a broken state
after restoring a snapshot?
If it's of any relevance, here's some more context:
* The host is running Debian Jessie with Linux 3.16.7-ckt9-3~deb8u1,
Libvirt 1.2.9, QEMU 2.1.
* The guest is Tails (https://tails.boum.org) which is Debian Wheezy
with Linux 3.16.7-ckt9-3.
I doubt it matters since I tested this ~two years ago, and got (IIRC)
the exact same results.
Cheers!

Hi,

JFTR Tails uses GRUB only for 32-bit UEFI. We use syslinux for BIOS
and 64-bit UEFI.

I did not know the Perl version did not support the EFI/Mac changes. For my use, that's critical, so I will not be using the Perl version further. (Thank you for the clarification there)

Now I'm confused, if Tails is able to use the .pl for the purpose of installing on OS X that would suggest it does have the EFI/Mac updates..?

What do you think shall be done on the isohybrid side? Shall it do

Agreed. But we now have a report about failure of 255x63
on a popular pseudo-hardware, when the ISO is presented
as DVD-ROM. (Probably there is no complaint when it gets
presented as hard disk.)

In an ISO that shall boot from DVD ?
Please give me an download URL.
I just downloaded
http://dl.amnesia.boum.org/tails/stable/tails-i386-2.11/tails-i386-2.11.iso
which has as volume id: 'TAILS 2.11 - 20170306'.
It does not bear any boot starting points for EFI. Neither for DVD nor
for HDD.

Syncing several emails accounts with offlineimap and dovecot
Hi,
I have just installed dovecot and offlineimap on my laptop for syncing with my
gmail, and reading in gnus, as outlined in this article:
http://sachachua.com/wp/2008/05/08/geek-how-to-use-offlineimap-and-the-dovecot-mail-server-to-read-your-gmail-in-emacs-efficiently/
I am using Debian Etch, and I am the only user.
The only change I made to the default dovecot.conf file was to set:

We at Tails rely on isohybrid.pl for installing on OSX:

Of course, this does not mean that the current syslinux team owes us
to maintain it forever :) Would it help if someone with the needed
Perl skills stepped up and volunteered to maintain the Perl version,
at least to port bugfixes from the C version?

Syslinux 6.03 for booting Mac Intels?
Hi,
So far I use the official binaries to boot an USB installer
in UEFI and BIOS mode.
I want to add a (recent) MacBooks target.
I know that needs to set up on the device an HFS+ partition with a
specific layout, but my question is: do you know if the official
binaries:
$SYSLINUX_SRC/efi64/efi/syslinux.efi
$SYSLINUX_SRC/efi64/com32/elflink/ldlinux/ldlinux.e64
work in that context?

I don't have a definitive answer (and I am not a Syslinux developer),
but generally speaking I would say that mixing Syslinux versions
should be completely avoided, specially since Syslinux 5.xx
considering the additional lib*.c32 library...

Solving CVE-2008-4870
Hi,
we're trying to solve CVE-2008-4870 = rhbz#436287 = dovecot.conf is
world readable - possible password exposure.
This problem seems to be little more complicated than we thought.
dovecot.conf can contain passphrase for ssl key, which is available for
everyone since dovecot.conf has world readable permissions.
(In CVE's description is note that it RHEL's/Fedora's problem,

Any (common) ISO image size should be a multiple of 2048 bytes, as this
is the normal bytes_per_sector value.
For isohybrid images, the result should be a multiple of 1MiB (1048576
