calls made over the Internet. It was introduced this evening by Reps.
Rick Boucher, D-Va., and Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., and it's called the

fit a "threshold" function with nls
I am trying to model a dependent variable as a threshold function of
my independent variable.
What I mean is that I want to fit different intercepts to y following 2

I am trying to do this with using ifelse statements in the nls function.
Perhaps, this is not an appropriate approach.
I have created a very simple example to illustrate what I am trying to do.

Hi,
I must access several hosts through reverse masquerading gateways
which are visible on the Internet under a single IP address,
with different ports (2, 22, 222, 2222 etc..) forwarding to port 22
of various internal ssh servers, each with its own hostkey.
This setup totally confuses the openssh client because it does not store
the port numbers in the known_hosts* file, and thus falsely

Model (Y) from left-censored independant variable (s)
....) independant left-censored variable (X*)
In other words, X* is a random variable with values 0 -> inf.
Thus, let c=0
X*= x if x>= c
X*= c if x< c
Does anyone knows a function or package in [R] enabling to model Y from a censored predictor X*?
Thanks for your help!

R programming class - Boston USA area - or online
Hello -
I am just beginning to look into R Programming and have written some basic R code. Do you know of anyone in the Boston-USA area that might be offering any courses on R Programming? Or possibly a course online?
Many thanks

tune2fs 1.21 ext2fs_add_journal_inode problem
Hi Ted, ext3 folks,
Here's what I get when trying to add an ext3 journal to a mounted ext2

# tunefs -j /dev/hda5
tune2fs 1.21, 15-Jun-2001 for EXT2 FS 0.5b, 95/08/09
Creating journal inode:
tune2fs: Bad file descriptor
while trying to create journal file
which is not surprising, given that the filedescriptor is closed
(and not re-opened) before the fstat in

upload file in a database or a server?
Hi,
I would like some suggestions. I''m wondering if it''s better to upload a
file directly into a database or to put the file into the server and
keep the path in the database?
Thanks,
Eric
