Automate running grub-bootxen.sh for kernel installs in Xen4CentOS
We need a way to do two things to /usr/bin/grub-bootxen.sh in Xen4CentOS.
1. Automate running it if xen (the package) and the xen kernel are
installed. But only if the user WANTS to run it.
2. Allow users to automatically modify the variables passed into the
xen.gz line (that is, more or less memory, add console settings, etc.)
If you look at the c...

grub-bootxen.sh
This is not abit issue just a minor annoyance.
I use Foreman to provision my systems and to keep control I remove all
the default *.repo files andkeep away from installing more *.repo files
so I can control the content via the foreman(katello) provided redhat.repo.
I would argue that the *-release-*.rpm should not contain any setup
code but just the stuff in /etc/yum.repos.d.

new-kernel-pkg needs to be made Xen-aware
I ran "yum update" the other day on my dom0 and let it pull a new kernel.
The RPM install scriptlet runs /sbin/new-kernel-pkg (part of the grubby
package) to update grub.conf. It writes a new record to boot the Linux
kernel instead of Xen. It would be nice if it noticed that it was running
inside Xen and wrote a suitable record for that.

Kernel 3.18.21-17 and 3.18.21-18 kernel panics
I've seen this issue on about 15 different servers now. Anybody else
seeing this?

I also have a video of the boot process if that will be helpful.

On systems with grub2, grub-bootxen.sh is tweaking the global grub2
config -- making sure Xen runs first, and adding some default
configuration. Even without that, grub...

Missing module grub entry in xen-4.4.3-9 & boot issues

initrd /boot/initramfs-2.6.32-358.el6.x86_64.img
As you can see the missing module line. If i manually run grub-bootxen.sh
nothing changes.
Manually adding the missing module entry:
module /boot/initramfs-3.18.21-17.el6.x86_64.img
Causes the following:

Install of kernel-ml does not allow for usable /proc/xen
...http://elrepo.org/bugs/view.php?id=648) I need to report that the install
of kernel-ml-4.5.3 does not trigger the proper grub2 changes to end up with
a xen ready kernel after install with "kernel-ml" as the default kernel in
/etc/sysconfig/kernel.
However, if I manually run /usr/bin/grub-bootxen.sh, the grub2 entries are
properly modified to allow for xen(xl) to function as the /proc/xen is
properly created with the kernel options.
I believe this did properly work for kernel-ml-4.5.0 as I did not need to
do anything in order for 4.5.0 to be xen enabled.
Thanks

New 3.10.18 Kernel for Xen4 needs testing
...rrent xen4centos6 repo as well ... the packages are signed by
the testing key and I am currently using them, but YMMV, so be careful.
Please also provide feedback (both positive and negative) so we can move
these into production.
NOTE: after installing a new kernel, please run
"/usr/bin/grub-bootxen.sh" ... OR ... manually edit your
"/boot/grub/grub.conf" file to boot the new kernel on your dom0 machine.
Thanks,

updating for XSA-108 -
So... it is theorized that XSA-108 is why amazon is rebooting. Is
there any way for me to know when this update hits CentOS5 or
xen4centos6? Do we know that it is *not* included in one of the
centos patches?
