Bug#820807: xen-hypervisor-4.4-amd64: Xen detects only one CPU when bootet via EFI and grub2
Package: xen-hypervisor-4.4-amd64 Version: 4.4.1-9+deb8u4 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I installed a fresh Debian Jessie amd64 on our new server with Intel Xeon E3-1270 v5 Skylake CPU and EFI. Linux without Xen boots flawlessly and shows 8 CPU cores. I then tried all combinations of Xen 4.4 (with xsave=off for Skylake support), Xen 4.6 (crashes after a few seconds during boot) and

It can be bootet in BIOS and EFI mode. I already tried the bootmgfw.efi from Windows. This work, but after the WinPE is booted a program is stated and this check the BIOS if it is set to EFI boot. If not it fail. This program also check the registry for the boot media. I tried to manually change it from Ramdisk...

network in guest suddenly dead
Hi - i''m new to xen, maybe someone can help me! I have a Xen 3.0 installation on a Dell PowerEdge 2850 (running RedHat ES 4). I have installed two guest-systems (using centos 4.2) - which can be bootet without problems. The guest-systems do not get their IP by DHCP (have none), but have assigned a free static IP. The network is up and connections to/from the guest-systems can be made. But after a certain time (about 10 minutes) the network from/to the guest-system suddenly is dead - no connectio...

...ridge=xenbr1''] boot = ''d'' vnc = 1 pae =1 on_crash = ''preserve'' ------------------ As you can see, i tried to use the complete /dev/sdc as hda for the virtual machine. The install was successfully (The machine bootet from the dvd-image, the hd was detected correctly). During the SLES setup i created to partitions (/ (450GB) and swap(30GB)) and installed grub in the MBR as well as in /. Unfortunatelly, after the first Boot the Systems hangs at grub after loading the HVMAssist Bios with the following message...

booting w98 bootdisk via memdisk
Hallo, I try to boot the windows 98 bootdisk via memdisk. It doesn't work completely. Booting a freedos FD image works, booting the windows 98 image works too. But the windows 98 boot disk then should extract the file "ebd.cab" with the file "extract.com", and that step fails. Is that a syslinux problem or a windows problem? Viele Gruesse! Helmut

suse 11.2 domU on lvm: anyone succeded?
Hi all I upgraded my testserver from opensuse 11.1 to 11.2 using zypper based method. All updates went smooth as far as there were no errors during the update process. Rebooting the whole farm the troubles started: not one domU bootet sucessfully, all of them showed the following messages: ... register_blkdev: cannot get major 8 for sd ... Volume group "VGsys" not found before they finally fail So I though, I set up a new domU using dirinstall, but this script fails also, actually dirinstall_finish fails. Ok, we stil...

Disabling MEMDISK
I have added instructions to memdisk.doc for how to disable MEMDISK. However, it's unlikely that this will work if you're running under DOS, since DOS will be very unhappy about drives changing underneath it. Anyway, until the next (pre)release comes out, here are the instructions: --- memdisk.doc 27 Apr 2004 06:49:36 -0000 1.10 +++ memdisk.doc 6 Jul 2004 01:29:03 -0000 @@ -122,5

xorriso or genisoimage syntax assistance
I got this figured out much faster than I thought I would. Thanks to all of your help, Peter, Mattias, Thomas and Helmut. And Thomas, that 8 partition live OS sounds right up my alley, and I will definitely check it out. The second partition is working well with `parted' and `fdisk', so I am quite pleased. Below is, again, "what I came up with". I tried to integrate each of your
