smbclient -k works; mount -t cifs does not
I am confused (nothing new there ...). I have 2 Ubuntu 9.10 Samba servers. I am trying to mount a share from the other (i.e., "workhorse" is trying to mount a share on "dual-booter"). If I specify a smbmount command with a -k option, I can mount the share: turgon at workhorse:~$ klist Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_1000 Default principal: turgon at DACRIB.LOCAL Valid starting Expires Service principal 05/03/10 18:55:31 05/04/10 04:55:31 krbtgt/DACRIB.L...

Problems using multiple Samba servers in a Win2003 AD domain
...h conflict with each other, or are outdated, none of which work. I am using virtually the same smb.conf on both machines. Domain name = DCRIB.LOCAL (short name DACRIB) Win2003 DC = dim-win2300.dacrib.local 2 Ubuntu 9.10 members (Samba 3.4.0) Desktop = workhorse (with various shares) Laptop = Dual-Booter (which will access the shares on workhorse and elsewhere) So, can anyone point out what's wrong with these configs? Dual-Booter can see the shares on workhorse, and workhorse can see the share on Dual-Booter. Each can (and is) mounting shares from a WinXP machine. I can get Kerberos tickets on...

Booting USBdeviceB [as root} from USBdeviceA:booter ?
My previous question: "can syslinux on a USBstik also boot installations on other USB devices ?" got no proper reply, so I'm now including more background detail. The new problem is that my 32bit partition of ETHOberon, only gives a proper font-size under Debian7:DVDinstaller:rescueMode, since I'm forced to use a laptop, after my previous systems were stolen. Neither gnome nor

Still can't mount Samba shares from other Samba server
...RIB+ldap-proxy:*:10001:10000:LDAP Proxy:/home/DACRIB/ldap-proxy:/bin/sh It returns the uid that was entered on the Unix Attributes tab of my Win2003 w/SFU AD entry. So it looks like domain users are being mapped identically, on both machines. Yet trying to mount a share from workhorse onto Dual-Booter fails: (on Dual-Booter) # smbmount //workhorse/OldHome /OldHome -o username=DACRIB+turgon Password: mount error(13): Permission denied Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) So I did a "echo 1 > /proc/fs/cifs/cifsFYI" and tried again, and then saw this, in sy...

Can USBstikA boot USBstkB ?!
PS. Since I've now only got a laptop, I mostly use TinyCore linux; which is also sysylinx booted; and makes provision for *THE SLOW REACTION TIME OF SOME USB DEVICES*; which may be the subtle cause of my problem in trying to boot a second USBdevice [other than the <boot device>]. My starting point was the *SYSLINUX* partial dir-listing; to PROVE that the issue is directly syslinux related. I'm free to ignore syslinux and use other methods; except that the old SYSLINUX booter proved itself well under the previous configuration. Also TC64's syslinux booter works well. ] Are you currently able to boot these OSes in any way? ISOLINUX versions 3.36 and 3.53 can't boot VIA EPIA CL Motherboard, version 3.31 can
Hi, I'm using Kubuntu and have a problem with the ISOLINUX CDROM booter with versions used since (K)Ubuntu 7.04. The ISOLINUX booter versions 3.36 and 3.53 do not boot my motherboard. The version shipped with Ubuntu 7.04 is I believe ISOLINUX 3.31 but it displays for such a short time I could be wrong. I'm writing to this mail list in case the original Ubuntu bu...

Multiple PXE server Issue
We're working on setting up a Citrix environment within our school. In the end this will work on a special computer lab, and possibly some of the staff computers. (to deploy OS and applications). Another group of IT within the school uses Ghost to re-image their labs on a weekly (or bi-weekly) basis. And here's the problem.... Ghost is using a PXE server so that the computers can be

wbinfo -a fails plaintext auth; passes challenge/response
...my Win2003 AD (that has Services for Unix installed). I am using Xubuntu 9.10, and samba 3.4.0. I set up Kerberos, and am getting a ticket. I have successfully joined the domain. # net ads join -U administrator Enter administrator's password: Using short domain name -- DACRIB Joined 'DUAL-BOOTER' to realm 'DaCrib.local' wbinfo -u does return all users, both local and AD. wbinfo -g returns all groups, both local and AD. wbinfo -t succeeds. Where's the formal syntax?
...possible to use a mix of SYSLINUX (for BIOS) and > syslinux.efi in the same (USB) device, especially with 6.04-pre1 (or > newer), which automatically supports 'syslx64.cfg' and 'syslia32.cfg'. ......... Isn't this the recommended way to go? BTW. this TC isolinux USBstik booter CAN boot a different [Debian7] USBstik when I edit an appropriate *.cfg entry. But I don't think the Laptop's firmware showed the USB-to-IDE\SATA disks. It's all very complex, and disruptive to reboot just to test/answer that! == Thanks for any advise.

Can USB:syslinux install another USBstik?
When a USBstiked-syslinux starts, it's the PC's firmare that's reading the USB ? But once the USBsyslinux takes over, has IT also got a USB driver? Since my MotherBoard & 2009 Slackware built USBstik syslinux booter were stolen I bought a <WinTel> laptop and USBextender to access my old IDE & SATA disks. With WinTel's new arrangement of not allowing the tail of the sda to be free for linux installation: I've only installed linux to some USBstiks. The attempted reconstruction of the stolen o...

syslinux 3.72 fails where 3.71 didn't
I have written a bash script (see below) to generate bootable SD-USB images using syslinux as booter. The script works OK with versions 3.63 and 3.71, but I get a null pointer error executing /tmp/$SYSLINUX/linux/syslinux -sf -o 16384 SD.img in 3.72. If you execute $ sudo sh SDformat.sh sys then you can test the image easily with qemu $ qemu -hda SD.img ++++++ SDformat.sh +++++++++++++++++...
