Some initial experiences.
...to post my experiences here, so... well, here goes :) (in no particular order). We can view bugs in kernel/xen via bugs.opensolaris.org, but not file them against kernel/xen. Could that be added to the list of categories for submission? There''s kind of a composite set of problems with bootadm(1M). While the modified bootadm will update bootadm-created entries, in menu.lst, it *won''t* modify those created by liveupgrade. As an extension of that, the bootadm created entries in menu.lst are not always the *correct* entries to modify in a liveupgrade environment. (there'...

Fujitsu Siemens PRIMERGY RX300
Hi all Opensolaris works perfectly, but I am not able to boot the xvm kernel on this hardware. I added the -k option in grub, but the system hangs before the hostname line without any debug info. I''ve tried snv from b94 to b99, with the same results. If I install Debian with xen kernel I am able to use pvm and hvm guests. What can I do ? thanks Giacomo -- This message posted from

zpool upgrade wrecked GRUB
Machine is running x86 snv_94 after recent upgrade from opensolaris 2008.05. ZFS and zpool reported no troubles except suggesting upgrade for from ver.10 to ver.11. seemed like a good idea at the time. system up for several days after that point then took down for some unrelated maintenance. now will not boot the opensol, drops to grub prompt, no menus. zfs was mirrored on two disks c6d0s0 and

zfs corrupts grub
...09.06 into the first partition then did an image update to build 124 from the dev repository. All went well so then I created a zpool from the second partition , which created fine and I could add filesystems to that pool. however when I can to reboot the laptop there was a message ( I think from bootadm ) about an unrecognised GRUB entry and the the reboot stopped with the words GRUB appearing at the top left of the screen. So it appears that zfs has done something to the grub entry such that I can no longer boot the laptop. Anyone have any ideas how to either recover from this and/or prevent th...
