Anybody using SCGI in production?
Or does anybody prefer fastcgi/fcgi? I''m using webrick for development, but plan on using scgi
when I switch to production (because it appears to be an update to fastcgi, and I couldn''t get
fastcgi working anyhow).
thanks

Betr.: Multiple IP Addresses in a single NIC
Hi,
You need to issue two commands:
/sbin/ifconfig eth0:0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
/sbin/route add -host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx dev eth0
For example:
/sbin/ifconfig eth0:0 172.16.1.199
/sbin/route add -host 172.16.1.199 dev eth0
You can even assign multiple aliases to one NIC (One of my servers has about 10 ip addresses):
For example:
/sbin/ifconfig eth0:0 172.16.1.199
/sbin/route add -host 172.16.1.199

Betr.: IP Problems - Address won't stick on reboots!
The file to edit is
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
It should look something like this. You should edit it with your settings
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=static
BROADCAST=xxx.xxx.xx.255
HWADDR=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
IPADDR=xxx.xx.xx.xxx
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
NETWORK=xxx.xxx.xx.0

Betr.: Centos and SAMBA
Hi,
I've setup a SAMBA PDC on Centos 4 last weekend and migrated my NT4 PDC (Users, Groups, etc) to the new Centos Server in a matter of a couple of hours.
I've used the scripts and howto from: http://samba.idealx.org/smbldap-howto.en.html#htoc89

...given time sample. For the matrix above the answer would be 1.
Is there a simple way to figure out if the species has never occurred
before and then sum them up?
Thanks in advance,

Kruskal's MDS results
Dear List,
I'm trying to interpret the results of the Kruskal's Non-metric Multidimensional Scaling algorithm (isoMDS, MASS package).
The 'goodness of fit' is reported as "The final stress achieved (in percent)".
What does this mean exactly? I've tried to google for an answer but I've not come up with a definitive answer.

Dieter

bypass_rescue and its inverse
Hey,
I''ve just started using rspec-rails 1.2 and the bypass rescue
declaration is wonderful - by default I tend to write controller which
raise exceptions (in exceptional circumstances), along with before-
filters as guard clauses, so being able to switch off rescue from
(which I properly spec separately) is a real boon.
Such a boon, in fact, that I immediately shoved it into a

Xapian .lemony files
...diting queryparser.lemony? I tried that and the make
didn't include my change. I applied the same change to
queryparser_internal.cc and it worked fine. Is the .lemony file
something used internally and I can ignore? Or do I need to run
something prior to make to convert the files?
Thanks,

Default value for ASTERISK_VERSION_NUM
I'm looking at version.h installed by Asterisk 1.2.3/4 - and the default
value is 000000. I thought the value should be 010200. I know many
people have problems compiling chan_bluetooth because of this
inconsistency. Anyone has the last word on this?

RHN-like system for CentOS?
Team,
Is anyone aware of a Red Hat Network alike system of server package
update status that could be adapted for CentOS3? I'm not interested in
the complete management aspect (channels, scheduling remote updates,
etc) but merely the ability to see your list of systems and determine
which are out of date with XXX packages. If you happen to manage a
large-ish number of RHES3 systems, you

Tail Call Elimination?
Dear R-programmers,
I am trying to program a Newton-Raphson in R (yes, i will try GSL, not right
now), and it would be a real boon if R had tail call elimination, so that a
recursive program has a guarantee not to fail due to stack overflows, given
how slow loops in R are. I did look at the documentation, but could not find
a reason for it.

Slowdown and errors
Hi all,
I am having some strange problems on a customer site :
I am pretty sure I disabled oplocks entirely - I don't like the idea of
them, and would rather have stable data.
The customer (5-10 users) runs Sage Line 50, and until recently was
getting numerous errors within sage. We have temporarily replaced their
switch and this has reduced the fatality rate and a few

'weaver' package problem
Hi Seth,
The possibility of caching computations would be a great boon when
one is iteratively refining a paper; so I'm most grateful for your
work on this. Unfortunately I have a problem to report:

Dell server for asterisk question!
I am planning to buy Dell 2650 server with dual Xeon processors.
And I would like to buy two TE410P cards for PCI with 3,3v.
This is on Dell site about PCI slots for Dell 2650 server:
3 PCI-X
(1x64-bit/133MHz, and
2x64-bit/100MHz)
Does that mean I will be able to buy two TE410P cards ?
Or I need to buy two TE405P cards ?
Thanks for help.
