Once I got as far as partitioning the disk manually and X blew

Couple times I have had kernel crashes at different stages of install.
I have not has trouble installing before and was wondering if there

configure bombing with "no locking available"
Hi!
I just went from RedHat 5.2 to SuSE 6.1, and now I have a problem with
the configure script bombing with
"ERROR: No locking available. Running Samba would be unsafe"
"configure: error: summary failure"
The source I am trying to compile is 2.1.0-prealpha, and I think this is
very weird, because I run samba 2.0.3(precompiled) on it now. On the
RedHat, everything compiled

Zsh fork bomb paniced my kernel.
Hi,
My machine just bombed when I did the following stupid command.
:(){:|:};:
Zsh chewed up everything on the machine...
I ran it knowing I'd probably have to reboot.
But, I hardly expected it to panic.
Or, was that normal?
Anyway, the following is some detail...
Please mail me if there is more I'm ment to do.
Thanks in advance :)

What would cause dbus-daemon to fork() bomb?
For some reason, my system (64-bit, CentOS 5.8) has started to have a
strange problem: dbus-daemon fork() bombing, typically overnight. The
machine has been fine for months and months. What could cause this?
This is my home desktop (it is also a server on my lan: dhcp, ldap,
dns, web, etc.).

limits.conf and AD domain groups
I am using a member server with AD as my source of accounts. ssh logins
work great.
Yesterday, one of my students wanted to see what a fork bomb was and so now
I need to place ulimits on place. Attempts to use AD domain groups fail. So
I'm not sure this is an issue for samba+winbind or for
/etc/security/limits.conf and pam.
Here's what I have added in limits.conf

pw_expire/pw_change in current portable openssh CVS bombs
The references to pw_expire and pw_change in pwcopy() in misc.c cause
compilation errors at least on solaris. How about doing a memcpy of the
whole structure and only explicitly setting those that need xstrdup?
That would work on openbsd and everywhere else.

[Bug 45] configure refines a function in skey, which then bombs
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45
------- Additional Comments From tim at multitalents.net 2002-01-31 16:37 -------
Autoconf uses char (*f) (); in all it's AC_CHECK_FUNC tests.
Seems like skey should be fixed.
Feel free to provide a patch to autoconf.ac that uses AC_TRY_RUN
instead of AC_CHECK_FUNC(skey_keyinfo,

Voicemail bomb
I submitted a bug to the tracker
*(*bug<http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=6947>) regarding
the 256 character limit when copying a voicemail to a list of mail boxes.
The bug was closed with this note:
"Fixed in 1.2 branch, merged to trunk."
Could someone explain to me what that means... in English?
I searched the release notes of the newest asterisk version to see if this

YUM provider bombs out on ''latest'' if the server is not available.
I''ve noticed that, should the yum server go down, any packages
requiring the ''latest'' version get thrown an error and anything
depending on them does not run.
This does not seem to be correct to me since, should a yum provider
not be available, the installed version (if one is installed) should
be considered the latest version.
I hacked a ''rescue''

Enter key in data editor bombs program in MDI (PR#11579)
Full_Name: Michael H
Version: 2.7
OS: Windows XP SP3
Submission from: (NULL) (74.74.76.1)
When running R with the multiple document interface, pressing enter in the data
editor causes the program to crash with the following command:
Dataset <- edit(as.data.frame(NULL))
This problem persists when using the fix command, such as fix(Dataset).
Interestingly, the arrow keys and mouse work fine

Perl script to locate F0 0F C7 C8 bombs
There is no known fix to the F0 0F C7 C8 bug at this time. What can be
done, however, is run a program, such as the script after my signature, to
locate any and all such programs. This script can be used in single
user mode after a mysterious lockup on a multiuser Pentium system.
I hope it is possible to come up with a software fix for this problem.
