Windows bombarding Samba looking for share that does not exist
I have a strange problem and I'm hoping that somebody on the list recognizes what it is. I am running Samba 3.0.23d on a Linux box with 2.6.20.15 kernel. I am connecting from 5 or 6 Windows XP SP 2 boxes. A share on the Linux box exists called "Music" (Note the UPPER CASE "M"). The share is accessible to all users who have smbpasswords on the Linux box. Most Windows

being bombarded with SIP packets
Over the last two weeks, we have had at least two "incidents" where our asterisk server got flooded (a hundred or more per second) by SIP packets. Once from 114.31.50.10, second time from 173.212.200.146. We became aware of the problem when bandwidth started suffering because asterisk got very busy sending back replies or rejects (dunno which, I didn't investigate it any further).

Can Constant Failed Connection Attempts Crash a Server?
Hi, I am responsible for 1000+ Samba servers. One particular server keeps crashing every few days. The server freezes up hard. I have swapped 100 percent of the hardware (in other words, I replaced Server A with a completely new Server B) but the crashing is still occurring. The server is running Samba 3.4.2 on 64-bit Linux with a custom 2.6.32.11 kernel and 6 GB RAM. I am fairly convinced

Win 2000 & XP Printer problem
I'm running Samba 2.2.5 on HP-UX 10.20. I've recently started adding WinXP (and 2000) clients to my network. Here's my issue: (It seems to effect both the XP & 2000 machines) I installed a WinXP machine on the network. I was able to add a bunch of samba-networked printers to the Xp machine. I recently added 2 new printers to the network. I added the printer names to my

Win 2000 & XP Printer problem RESOLUTION
In case anyone was interested... this turned out to be a Super BONEHEAD problem.... My printer name was "testron". Well... come to find out, I have a share with the same name. Imagine that. Just an FYI to those new to samba... can't have printer & share names the same. ======================== I've recently started adding WinXP (and 2000) clients to my network.

XP & 2000 Printer problem
I'm having a problem with my XP & 2000 pc's, with printers. During the initial installation and configuration of these machines, everything is fine. But any printer added to the network AFTER the initial config of the winXP & win2000 pc's, isn't available to these machines. So... if I add any printers to my network, I can't use them with my winXP or win2000

Hello, I am logging directly into file and also to syslog. Here is snippet from my /etc/asterisk/logger.conf: messages => notice, warning, error, verbose syslog.local0 => notice, warning, error, verbose But the logs look different: VERBOSE[7609][C-00000013] pbx.c: NOTICE[3042] chan_sip.c: Peer '1111' is now UNREACHABLE! vs. VERBOSE[7609][C-00000013]: pbx.c:2925 in

windows 7 machine account fails to authenticate against samba PDC
Hello all, I've added my windows7 client to the domain (samba running as pdc), having applied the registry changes identified here (http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7). Partial success - domain users can login and see shares etc, BUT: 1 - the registry settings in ntlogon/NTConfig.POL are not applied. Am I right in thinking that windows 7 ignores this policy? And if so I therefore

pam + privileges
Hi, Apologies if my attempts to subscribe bombarded this list with empty emails. We're running openssh 3.6.1p1 on Linux i386 and need to chroot and modify people's capabilities (Linux specific) when they log in. To do this we've compiled openssh with pam support and then configured pam to chroot people and alter their capabilities (suc...

Looking for company behind serverhostingcenter.com and directhostingcenter.com for causing problems on dir.xiph.org
...is is slightly off-topic, but do you plan on hosting the directory on > volunteer mirrors as well ? (maybe you already do that). > We might have some spare bandwidth somewhere, maybe not enough, though. The directory runs quite well on Xiph.org hardware at OSUOSL at the moment. Despite being bombarded with 50-100 yp listings and metadata updates per second. I haven't looked at the bandwidth in a while, but serving yp.xml (mostly the incompetent VLC implementation refusing to use compression) cause about 5-10MBit/s egress 24/7 Despite being well designed and having served us quite well, the...

[LLVMdev] Profiling - execution count of basic blocks...
Hi gang, time for my weekly confusion... (I'm trying not to bombard the board with questions) The thing that's on my mind at the moment (there's some backend-stuff that I'm just working my way though) is that I'm not getting very far when trying to get LLVM to profile code - I'm looking for nothing more special than list of how many times each basic block has been called

I have this minor code, completely made up but gets at what I am wanting, 4 random samples and 4 samples of confidence, I know how to get A & B into one panel and C&D in to

Dovecot replication - I'm stuck
Hi, I've been following the wiki document at http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Replication, but I've become stuck. I'm running version 2.1.3 on NetBSD 5.2 (v2.2+ isn't available as a package yet, and compiling my own is well outside my wheelhouse). I have a couple of questions: The wiki page keeps referring to "vmail". Is this a just system user I need to create? Presumably
