UTF-8 in comments
Some days ago i noticed in the ogg vorbis documentation that the
comment-field contents should be encoded in UTF-8. A brilliant idea I
think, sadly it seems like no one is using it. oggenc and vorbiscomment
included in vorbis-tools writes strings to the comments fields blindly
without any encoding conversion in violation of the spec.
I intend to try to solve these problems to the best of my

RUnit testing with R CMD check and more (was: R CMD check recursive copy of tests/)
Hello!
I have looked at Martin's recent work on "merging" unit tests with R CMD check,
fused it with my and Tony's contributions and developed it a bit further. Take
a look into the attached demo package on how it works.
In essence:

[PATCH 0/5] Add MSI support to XEN
Hi, Keir,
These patches are rebased version of Yunhong''s original patches,
which were sent out before XEN 3.2 was released. These patches enable
MSI support and limited MSI-X support in XEN. Here is the original
description of the patches from Yunhong''s mail.
The basic idea including:
1) Keep vector global resource owned by xen, while split pirq into

enableJIT in Rprofile leads to 'not a proper evaluation environment' on startup
A commenter on SO suggested that I copy my question to R-devel
http://stackoverflow.com/q/31972325/850781
I have had

compiler::enableJIT(3)

in ~/.Rprofile for years; now that I upgraded to 3.2.1 I get this on startup:

Possible bug in Rcons_vprintf
In R-2-4-branch r39548, Rcons_vprintf is called from stdout_vfprintf
when R_Outputfile is NULL. When called and output is greater than
R_BUFSIZE, output is truncated to R_BUFSIZE. Here's a one-line fix:

complex NA's match(), etc: not back-compatible change proposal
This is an RFC / announcement related to the 2nd part of PR#16885
https://bugs.r-project.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=16885
about complex NA's.
The (somewhat rare) incompatibility in R's 3.3.0 match() behavior for the
case of complex numbers with NA & NaN's {which has been fixed for R 3.3.0
patched in the mean time} triggered some more comprehensive "research".

farimaSim
Hello!
I installed the fSeries package to get some farima time-series which i tried
with farimaSim, but unfortunately i got always an error. I tried it this way:
> farimaSim(n = 1000, model = list(ar = 0.5, d = 0.3, ma = 0.1), method="freq")
Error in farimaSim(n = 1000, model = list(ar = 0.5, d = 0.3, ma = 0.1), :

Some ideas?

I've checked for other reports on this and can't find anything. It seems that
the .Random.seed isn't updated properly after using rm(.Random.seed). Mu
understanding from the help file indicates that a new 'random' seed will be
generated.
It appears that sometimes the old one is just

base::format adds extraneous whitespace for some inputs
Dear R Core Team,
First of all, thank you for your amazing work on developing and
maintaining this wonderful language.
I just stumbled upon the following behavior in R version 3.6.0:
format(9.91, digits = 2, nsmall = 2)
format(9.99, digits = 2, nsmall = 2)
yield "9.91" and " 9.99" with an extraneous whitespace.
My expected output for the second command is

R, like recent versions of S-Plus, sometimes - but not always - loses
names when subscripting objects with "[". (Earlier versions of S and

would be better to remove names only by explicit request, not as an

complex NA's match(), etc: not back-compatible change proposal
That, for example, complex(real=NaN) and complex(imaginary=NaN) are regarded as equal makes it possible that length(unique(as.character(x))) > length(unique(x)) (current code of function 'factor' doesn't expect it). Yes, an argument for the behavior is that NA and NaN are of one kind.
On my system, using 32-bit R for Windows from binary from CRAN, the result of sapply(z, match,
