Random effect in GAM (mgcv)
Dear R users,
I am using the *mgcv package* to model the ratio of hectares of damaged
culture by wild boar in french departments according to some
environmental covariates. I used a _Beta distribution_ for the response.
For each department, we estimated the damaged in 3 different culture
types (??Culture??). Our statistical individual are therefore the
department crossed by the culture type.

Reassign values based on multiple conditions
...that's been worn by an animal for a certain
amount of time, and then may have been worn by a different animal after
changes when the batteries needed to be changed. When an animal was caught
and the collar battery needed to be changed, a whole new collar had to be
put on, as these animals (wild boar and red deer!) were not that easy to
catch. In order to follow the movements of each animal I now need to create
a new column that assigns the 'data' by animal rather than by collar. I
have a table of dates, e.g....
animal collar start_date end_date

Plural version of the model detected, using singularized version. Override with --force-plural.
what is the proper way to make this work? --force-plural doesn''t seem
to change the results. this only seems to happen when you choose
words that the plural and singular is the same word.

Configuring an Intel 3945 wireless card: partial success

... which leaves me clueless. Any suggestions?
Last detail: for the moment at least, I'm using no encryption at all on
the access point. We live in a very remote place in the south French
countryside, there's only hunters and wild boars around, so it's not a
very friendly place for wlan-hackers :o)

Monitor/Restrict network traffic of XEN Client
Hi List,
(Long time lecher, first time poster)
Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but here goes..
I have a few test Guests on a Xen host, and I would like to start monitoring
(and maybe restricting) the network traffic of the guests but not the Host.
No I know this can be done with iptables, but I just wondered if anyone knew
of a package or how-to to set this up with Xen on CentOS 5 ?
