2 Questions
Hi,
Just two quick questions:
1. Would it be possible or difficult to upgrade FreeBSD 4.8 -STABLE to
5.2 -STABLE when it comes out?
2. Which is the best for a production environment, -STABLE or -RELEASE
Someone told me they think the latter is better because it doesn't
require as much downtime for an upgrade.
Thanks
Joe

various ordering issues in puppet manifests
Hello,
The more complicated my puppet scripts gets, the more ordering issue i meet. Here is a simple thing:
I use a default backup policy for the nodes in my backup classe and then, in the node i try to override the defined
default but even if they are done one after the other i got an error to say that the override is triggered before the
default:

4.8R and $FreeBSD$ version tag expansion
I noticed that there were quite a few files with version ids of
'$FreeBSD$' when I ran mergemaster after an install of 4.8R. This isn't
right is it? What are the consequences of installing over your files
with unexpanded version ids? I would like to build a release(make
release) and want to know if I can continue or if this is going to be a
problem for future

awk/gawk
A quickie question: Could someone tell me why, on RELENG_4, we have a
gawk(1) manpage but no gawk executable? Given the manpage links, and
the fact that our system awk is really built from gawk sources, I'd
expect to have a link from /usr/bin/gawk to /usr/bin/awk (or vice
versa).
Thanks,
Bruce.
