Problems with graphical devices, e.g., png(), pdf(): blurry graphical output
On my current home system, I am getting undesirable output from
graphical devices such as png() and pdf(). The graphical output is
blurry. I haven't experienced the problem on other systems. As you
will see from the attached text file (more information on this file
below), the problem does not occur when type='Xlib' is forced. The
blurriness is more severe with bitmap output (yes, I am viewing the
bitmap files at 100%), b...

Paperclip - gen'd thumbnails are fin in dev, but blurry in production
Seems I''ve seen some discussion in the past about something not right
on the server side with ImageMagick when this is happening, but I cant
find it now that I''m having the problem.
Any advice?

screen fonts
Does anyone know of any programs capable of fine tuning my screen
display settings? I'm using the NVIDIA drivers, and everything is
slightly blurry - regardless of how much (or little) I set anti-aliasing to.

R Graphs in Powerpoint
.... I'm attempting to use some of the great
graphs generated in R for an upcoming talk that I'm writing in
Powerpoint. Copying and pasting (I'm using OSX) yields graphs that
look great in Powerpoint - until I resize them. Then fonts, points,
and lines all become quite pixelated and blurry. Even if I size the
window properly first, and then copy and paste in the graph, when I
then view the slideshow, the graphs come out pixelated and blurry.
Is there any good solution to this, or is this some fundamental
incompatibility that I can't get around?

How to display numbers or word graphically?
Some blog sites and others (ticketmaster, for example) require you to
read a graphical representation of a word or number to prevent a form
from being submitted programmatically.
I''d like to do something similar on a new site I''m building.
Two quick questions:
1. Is there a standard term for these graphical representations? i.e.
how would I do a google search for this

multi-page printing moving on
...nly one form (facility) to be viewed/printed.
I have created the looping code necessary to print for all facilities
but that doesn''t work for me because each page uses stylesheets with
<div> that do absolute positioning and thus each form overlays the
previous forms and it becomes a blurry mess.
When using css, there are styles strictly for printing that allow the
use of ''page breaks'' but given the format I am doing (viewing on screen
and then printing), this clearly doesn''t work.
So I looked at other methodologies...

Making TIFF images with rtiff
...hether
photographs or line art, be submitted as high resolution .TIFF images.
One option for R users is to produce an image in one format and to
convert it to a .TIFF file using a second software program. My
experience has been that this option often results in images of poorer
quality, often with blurry contours, and a loss of resolution. A second
and better option would be to make .TIFF files directly from the graphic
output of R.
I recently noticed that there is a library called "rtiff" that may be
able to do this. However, I have not been able to get it to work,
principally becau...

Formalizing the end of the relationship with Eaton
...aton does not support NUT
anymore.
This may still evolve in the future.
But for now, please do not consider anymore that buying Eaton products will
provide you with official support from Eaton, or a better level of device
support in NUT."
Considering that I'm still an Eaton employee, this blurry situation was one
of the main factors that kept me away from NUT for the past couple of years.
Not the only one, but I'm working on these points one after another.
You can expect to see me slowly starting to bother you all again in a soon
future ;)
Cheers,
Arnaud

PDFs and SVGs containing rasterGrobs don't display correctly in some other software
...s with grid's rasterGrobs, or how R
writes PDF and SVG files, or with Inkscape and Firefox's method of
rendering those files, or with me. Please can you help me narrow it
down.
- Can you reproduce my problem? That is, when you run the above code,
does the file look OK in a PDF reader but blurry in Inkscape?
- Do you know of any issues with using rasterGrobs in PDFs or SVGs?

exporting high quality graphics from R in Mac OSX
...graphics, since I can zoom in
as much as I like and it continues to look really nice. If I import it
into MS Word (from office 2000), or Textedit, however, it imports it as
a bitmap and unless I save it as a pretty big image and then shrink it
in size by about three times after import it looks blurry and
pixellated. The save it as a really big picture and shrink it option is
bearable, but hardly elegant.
I'm trying to persuade some other people in my department that we
should move to using R as a standard analysis package, and this is
currently one strike against it - it's difficul...

Hello all,
I have just installed Centos 3 and I can't help notices that the fonts are blurry. I have been using RH9 and then Fedora and the fonts there are fine, But Whitebox and Centos seem to be blurie. Can anyone tell if Cents has the Byte-code interpreter enabled in Freetype?
Thanks all.

Half Life 2 - Can't get past the loading screen
....0 seconds = 2672.850 FPS
> 12318 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2463.449 FPS
> 14019 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2803.650 FPS
But the thing is that wether I choose a lower resolution, a lower DX, with or without the intro vid, windowed or fullscreen, I always get to the initial loading that has that blurry background and it will *always* exit back to the desktop maintaning the game's resolution.
Is there any known fix for this? Any help would be appreciated :?

RFC: bicubic filtering patch
Hey,
There's one relevant patch in the F13 DDX package that hasn't been
pushed into git still.
The patch simply switches off the bicubic filtering if we're scaling the
image by less than 200% in either direction in order to prevent some
excessive blurriness in the image (very noticable with the gstreamer
xvideo test).
The patch has been in the Fedora package since F11 as a user

Can youplease provide explanations on the loop mechanisms you've used.?

Using Paperclip::Processor and RMagick to sharpen my thumbnails
...i, I''m brand new to RMagick (and pretty new to Rails for that
matter!). Right now, site owners are allowed to upload product and
ingredient photos to the website. Everything works great, ingredients
are sized down and proportioned correctly...the problem is that the
resulting images are so blurry! So I''ve been doing some research and
it looks like Paperclip::Processor may be the way to go. Here is what
I have so far:

[LLVMdev] Develop on trunk.
...complete manuals, and only add FAQs to cover completely off-the-wall
information that doesn't really have a good home, or a quick 10 questions
that are almost always asked.
Also, I think there should be only one manual for LLVM -- the line between
'user' and 'developer' is too blurry to be sensible in documentation. The
organization of the documentation itself will naturally group things
appropriately so that only the relevant sections need be read.
Finally, I would focus on "user facing" FAQs for the quick 10 questions. I
don't think developers will really be he...
