new laptop: DVD or Blu-ray
One of the build options for a laptop I'm looking at buying is DVD vs
Blu-Ray. I've never used Blue-ray before, so is there some compelling
reason, as a Linux guy, to want to get Blu-ray?

DVD/Blu-Ray with chapter marks and what not). It's the step that comes
after you've shot and edited the movie, see
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_authoring. As far as I know K3B, Bombone
DVD and DeVede are capable of authoring DVDs. K3B (version dependent)
should even be able to create Blu-Ray d...

Kubuntu 10.10 hangs up, while using DVDFab with wine 1.2/1.3
Hello,
first of all, let me say sorry, for my ugly english !
In the past, I used DVDFab 7/8 with wine 1.2 on Kubuntu 10.04. Everything worked fine, without any special configuration. I used the Blu-Ray to Blu-Ray Function.
Now, i did a new installation of Kubuntu 10.10, and DVDFab looks like this:
DVDFAB 7.0.9.3

DVDFab 8.0.7.3

But this is not the biggest pro...

Platinum Blu-Ray Defeat the World
...iece of this box set. It gives details about the production, as well as provides information about the legacy the film has had. It is full of rare pictures. The book also features the story of Snow White, told through concept art and stills from the film. The book is absolutely gorgeous.
As for the Blu-Ray itself, the film hasn't looked this good since its original release in 1937. Disney restoration team deserves a pat on the back for a job well done. The transfer on Blu-Ray is immaculate. It's so clean that you can see some of the animation flaws if you look closely. In terms of bonus...
